When I bought the watch at that time, I was already angry about this circumstance, because I got dependent on Suuntu and their rarely stupid online configurator.

So, based on what you said, you already bought electronic waste from the beginning. Isn’t it ?
Out of curiosity, didn’t you gather some info before buying ?

      SVTS - 2.40.38
      SSSWHR BARO Amber - 2.8.32
      Samsung A5 2016 - Android 7.0
      Samsung A33 2022 - Android 14 - One UI 6.1
      Suunto App Android 5.3.5 beta
Suunto App IOs 2.46.0 (19453) beta on MBP M1

But if I can’t adjust the apps and settings in Ambit2 anymore, the clock becomes useless.

Part part of the issue here seems to be lack of information or inconsistency of transition updates from Suunto.
Suuntolink update that enables support for all Ambits (1/2/3) and introduces workflow that will probably be really close to the final one was released over 2 months ago. How many current Ambit users know about this?

Now compare this imaginary figure with number of Ambit users who think that Movescount will be shut down, rendering their watches semi-useless.

@suolaf , you can replace your existing Moveslink2 with Suuntolink today and you don’t have to think about any of this in (few?) upcoming years. Assuming you are OK with your activities ending up in Suunto App instead of Movescount. If it this is not the case, just keep using Moveslink2 as long as possible and then move over to Suuntolink. Movescount.com will still be the place for changing sports modes, settings and routes / pois, most likely apps too (Suuntolink syncs those just fine). Even when Movescount loses everything related to activity-analysis and will be renamed or redesigned.

I don’t see Suunto opting for any offline solution for Ambit-line, they just want to keep maintenance and dev-hours at minimum. Though open-source community might come up with something usable, at some point.

As long as I can configure the clock, we’re good.
The information I’ve been reading for the past few days said otherwise.
I’m going to take a look at Suuntulink tonight.
Thank you for the ample information 🙂

@sartoric At the time I bought the watch, there were no comparably good alternatives, so I accepted the online disadvantage with a bad conscience.

                Suuntulink only allows firmware updates.
Programming apps/training programs with the appropriate display for the watch and uploading them to the watch is not possible with Suuntulink.
This functionality is important for me because I use my own calculation formulas.
Hopefully this functionality will continue to exist, as you claim here.

Then you’re basically screwed. It seems apps will not return to Suunto app or suuntolink.

You do all programming and customization on Movescount website, then you download latest SuuntoLink and connect to it to your both Movescount and Suunto App accounts, When you connect A2 it will download all your custom apps, custom sport screens POI and Routes from Movescount to your watch.

When you record all your activities by connecting your watch too SuuntoLink watch will upload it to Suunto App platform.

                      Correct, but wrong 😁
Suuntolink never had “app” configurator or any kind of customization tool.
“Ambit apps” won’t (very probably) never be added to SA, but based on Suunto’s info, Ambit users will still have a MC like online platform to use such functionalities.

I have bunch of apps I cannot erase from my MC, remove button does not work. Never checked if they actually work or not.

Because those apps are still in use?

This also applies to your public apps, to remove those, you’ll first need to track down all its users and somehow force them to remove it from their sport modes. Deleting unused private apps works just fine.

I was able to keep a small number of apps before, If I wasn’t using them remove button would work so my app list would be more tidy. None if them are being used on a watch on any screens but I still cannot remove them.
