      Hi guys

Apologies - there are probably previous similar threads, but it’s often tricky to find exactly ‘your question’, so I hope you can help:

      SUUNTO 9

      • If I want to navigate an uploaded GPX route, can I do so AND record the event - e.g. time, distance, pace etc for a run at the same time?

I am super comfortable with uploading routes and ‘beginning’ them, but can’t see how to activate an activity at the same time. Am I missing something? I want to be able to upload some off-road runs where navigation is essential for me, but still be able to upload the finished run into the SUUNTO app etc.

      Any advice hugely appreciated, thanks!

      Ben

@bennyhana22 Start the run then in options select navigation, pick your route. This is clear in the manual too. https://www.suunto.com/en-us/Support/Product-support/suunto_9/suunto_9/features/recording-an-exercise/

@bennyhana22 @Brad_Olwin You can also load the route in the sportmode screen, before pushing start, swipe up an there select the route in navigation, then when you have started the exercise, you will have the navigation screen with the loaded route available.

@bennyhana22 I never tried but, from what I have read in the forum, you can also change routes on the fly, without stopping the exercise: change the route and/or send new routes from the phone to the watch.

That’s really brilliant - thanks so much both. It makes sense to start the activity and then select and start the navigation…

Really grateful for your swift and expert advice.

              Yes you can 😁

you just need to pause the activity,

you just need to pause the activity,

And you can load a different route if it is on the phone. When off trail, I may plan two or three different routes as I am uncertain how difficult the terrain may be. When I change my goals, I can change the route.

Yep, that’s what I meant too, not just changing the route 😁 that you can do even without pausing the activity.
I’ve even drawn a route on the fly, then sent it to the watch.

Just switch to breadcrumb before selecting the new route because there’s still is a bug (at least for spartan) with altimetric profile

After you selected what activity you want to do, but before starting it you can select “options” . Then you can select a mode of navigating, load a route, set the backlight etc. During the activity you can also load another route or POI
