Suunto 9 strap failing
-
I’ve recently purchased the Suunto 9 watch, while the watch face and functionality are second to none. The 2nd watch strap loop keeps sliding off the strap and leaves the strap hanging off / waving around. This happens circa 20 times a day when wearing for about 9 hours. Wearing for any longer gets even more frustrating as it’s not a quick task to feed the silicone strap back into the loop/s.
Suunto appear reluctant to progress any further, they had initially provided replacement strap loops but exactly the same issue happens.
They have now offered 10% off a watch strap which I am loathed to do given I’m having to spend more money on a product that doesn’t appear to be functioning as a normal watch should…
Any pointers gratefully received!
Cheers,

@marky_mouse20 I never had a strap failing (in any watch, Garmin or Suunto, and even cheap Amazon knock-off), but you can definitely try one cheap third-party one from Amazon to check if it is the strap, or something is wrong with the watch.

@marky_mouse20 Happened the same to me.
My guess is you have a skinny wrist and/or work a lot behind a desk.
The silicone strap is rather sticky to some surfaces.
I noticed that if my loops are around the downward facing place on my wrist, they tend to move to the side while I work a lot behind a desk, because of the slight arm/wrist movements and the stickeyness of the desk surface.I also have a skinny wrist. The muscles and bones makes my wrist not oval, but slightly curved.
On a regular day I noticed that my wrist movements caused the loops to move from their original position, probably because they are pushed by the movement of the muscles. However, I found a sweet spot.
For me, this is rather on the end of the strap on the left side of my wrist. I wear my watch on my left wrist so that means the loops are pointing slightly outwards on the left side.No idea if this helps you any further but if you don’t have such a “sweet spot” I guess your only option is to get a strap with loops that are not really sticky or sewed onto the straps. Or the velcro type of straps ofcourse.
btw… also try to tighten or losen the strap one hole to see if that works.
