    Hi guys,
I recently bought a new Suunto 9 baro. Before I owned a S Galaxy watch and I didn’t want to have a smart watch anymore but rather a proper sportwatch. So here it is… Suunto 9 baro.
I looked at many reviews and every watch looks like worked flawlessly. But not mine (at least so I think). First touch or swipe works OK, next not anymore.
    For example: swipe up–> Exercise–> swipe up–> nothing happens–>swipe up—> nothing happens–> swipe up–> enters Exercise… why!!!
I tried to moisten my fingers… no difference, tried to use pencil for touch screens… even worst.
Soft reset --> didn’t change much
Hard reset --> nothing changed (OK, at least now VO2 max is shown).

    Software: 2.12.18
    Hardware: 3835C5
    Touch: C1.10.3

    Any idea?

    Thanks for help

@rokic3 I agree, the touch response is not very sensitive compared to modern smartphones or smartwatches. That’s why I navigate with the buttons. But there’s one feature that needs touch: changing the displayed information, for instance altitude, battery level etc in a watch face. I find it so frustrating having to tap the screen like a maniac before I get what I want. I guess there is no sensitivity adjustment… But I’d say there’s plenty of good stuff in my S9B, so I can overlook this shortcoming.

@rokic3 the S9 doesn’t have the most responsive touchscreen, but it shouldn’t be as bad as you describe. Do you use an extra screen or foil on top of the touchscreen? Also make sure there are no other conductive fluids or fabrics touching the screen.

Last option would be to contact Suunto support.

Thank you for both answers. I decided to return the watch. Here we have a law that we can return everything bought from internet in 14 days without any explanations why returning.
I really love this watch and will try to get another one. But not without first testing it.

Here is a link how my screen works: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KUREBni0lrTHNtarMPNNWCvxmZfbpviy/view?usp=drivesdk

            @rokic3 Clear video!
Looks like a defect. That is not how my S9 behaves.

That’s not how mine reacts either.

I owe you an answer how it went. I’ve been to a shop where I bought this watch and showed it to seller. He tried soft reset, hard reset and nothing changed. He was surprised as he also previously owned a S9 and no defects. He offered me a refund or new watch. As S9 wasn’t on stock and I needed a watch for this weekend I took the Polar Grit X.
After half a day of usage I can say:

                • it better fits my arm, as it is smaller. oooh and it’s light. I almost forget I have it on my arm.
                • better screen, and it works 😀
                • more complicated that Suunto. S9 was really intuitive. Love the S9 simplicity.
                • some say Suunto App is horrible, but I like it. Polar Flow is for my opinion clunky. Maybe I just need to get used to it. Will see.
                • Polar stock was 40m off in elevation (WTF). I really loved the Suunto function for GPS auto adjustment. Polar also recommend to always do manual adjustment/correction. Hmmm, so I have to have a phone with me or be at sea level. Don’t like that.
                • Will try to do the same paths to see the differences.
                • battery… don’t know yet. But after half a day looks promising on Grit X (full GPS and HRM on).

Will see how Polar will work in the next days. But if Suunto will make some smaller watches with S9 functionalities, I’m sure I’ll be back in this group.

                Thanks again for the support

@rokic3 S9B it is and will be, simply No.1 for the next years… to the next generation of watch.
Even if the app is not the best and will be, I hope. Proof is this forum, as it solves lot of problems and give a lot of solution.

@Rokic3 I just came here to say that I had the same issue as you and didn’t find much information on the internet. The touchscreen generally works but from time to time it gets stuck or captures the wrong input… I do not know if this is the normal behavior because it is the first one I have but I consider it unacceptable. I will try to change it for a new one of the same model and see if it was just my watch.
