Suunto 5: intervals in custom sports modes
-
Hello,
I hope I’m missing something obvious here …
When preparing to start an exercise, using a custom sport mode, the ‘Intervals’ menu option does not appear in the ‘Options’ menu which appears by pressing the lower right button prior to pressing ‘Start’. Nor can I find an ‘Intervals’ option after starting an exercise. Is this normal or have I missed something. If it is normal, is it registered as a bug somewhere?
Thanks,
Mike

@mike-green I don’t own a Suunto 5 so I can’t try it, but the manual states that you can’t use navigation if you select intervals. Are these option mutually exclusive? Do you have navigation selected?
And what kind of sport mode did you create?
Do you also have this behaviour if you create a new sportmode? -
@mike-green I think this is normal behaviour for any of the sports modes across the s series, spartans also I think. This is not a bug and was already discussed some times ago.
If I remember correctly, the argument was that one should either use a map, or do an interval training. -
@mike-green Btw, did you include a interval display in your custom sport mode?
I can recreate this behaviour on my S9B.
I had a running profile with an interval display in it. In the options I could configure interval settings.
I removed the interval screen from the profile and now I am also missing the interval option before start. -

Aha! Thank you. I had naively assumed that the interval display would be created dynamically, in the manner that it is in my Ambits. Having added an interval screen to my custom sport mode, I can duly select intervals. Phew!As to the 'no intervals whilst navigating; feature: yes, I’d already spotted and been mildly irritated by that, though it’s much less problematic than the original issue would have been.
Thanks for the remarkably rapid replies
