issue sending whatsapp

Hi guys,
I am trying to send a whatsApp using google assistance but It doesn’t recognize any contact and it is asking me permanently about “to who?”. Besides, if I try to send a text message, the assistance finds well the contacts and sends the message as expected.

does somebody have the same issue?

@cristian-0 Google broke GA in September 2020. Hopefully they will fix it sometime this year. On Reddit wear os forum user Malbry has created an app you can side load that shows you to initiate whatsapp and text messages via voice (note texts can be initiated by messages app or contact app).

Assistant issues were fixed with an update this year.

I used to have a few issues, but now I can send texts, WhatsApp, emails, etc. Assistant on my watch is working as I would expect.

Have you tried the obvious of restarting both watch and phone?

@Jamie-BG I have tried to use Wear Text but I have a xiaomi with MIUI 12 and it doesnt allow to use Bluetooth unlock with a trust device (It is a requirement… but it works when it is unlock so good)… I am sure that it is related with my xiaomi smartphone rather than with WEAR OS.

@olymay thanks! I did that… but I think the issue is related with MIUI 12 rather than with the watch

I have exactly the same issue: SMS works well but not watsapp. Samsung Note10.

@jamie-bg not sure exactly, but I remember there being a lot of chatter about it on Reddit earlier tis year.

I don’t use assistant on my watch often (my phone or smart speakers are normally more convenient) but I’ve tested recently and everything seems to be working perfectly.

I used to have the same problem as you and saw how inconvenient it was. So I decided to change to other versions of whatsapp to get the best usage card.
