@łukasz-szmigiel i have opposite problem with WHR. It sometimes drop to half of my heart rate. And than it sticks to this and don’t want come back up. Usually on bike when there is more vibration from terrain. It drops from 120-140 to 60-70 and i must stop for few minutes for watch to catch back my heart rate. But on asphalt there is usually good accuracy now when weather is hot. In spring it had much worst performance even on asphalt. For me it was usually 10-20% of activity when it is inaccurate but in hot weather is accuracy good. And maybe i am more careful to keep watch higher on my wrist.

@łukasz-szmigiel can indeed confirm

@дима-мельниченко
I’ve also experienced this, would not say due to shaking, but my HR was also 60. When I finished my session 3,5h . there had been 2 smaller sections where my HR was around 60. -
The backlight illuminates even when it is not needed, resulting in increased battery consumption - interval timer and automatic lap in running and cycling modes.
Training on the bike more than 100 km, every kilometer the backlight lights up. I need the cut-off every km, but do not need the backlight in the daytime. The same situation with intervals in running. -
The update is out for S5/S3 as well
-
S5 updated. Few minutes I go out to try snap to route and ghost
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos thanks for info. I am very excited to try snap to route. And at same time very disapointed that backlight toggle mode is away. Now on every button press there is backlight enabled even when enough ambient light. In average light conditions, visibility of screen with backlight on is even worst because it subjectively decrease screen contrast.

@tomas5
I use my watch with this backlight settings since day one I own it. And it really works for me
…I even notice it better when there’s unwanted button press -
@freeheeler yeah i believe that for many it is ok, or even great. For me it was first thing i changed on my old ambit and again first thing i changed on my suunto 5. Toggle mode was best for me. But if battery life will not be affected, than i don’t care. For now i was able to do some gps activity, keep 24/7 and bluetooth notifications and battery remained for 6-7days. In just 2-3 weeks i will see if this is just cosmetic issue or real issue for me
-
@tomas5
the battery life varied for me a lot… the more I need to charge, the happier I am in general since it is a direct result of me doing way more what I love -
@freeheeler or battery deterioration…
-
@tomas5 Prior to this firmware the standby backlight could be set to on or off. In the winter I would set this to on and it was continuously on 24/7 with a small effect on the battery. Now with the new firmware the standby backlight will be on intermittently so this should improve not reduce battery. The raise to wake does not activate the full backlight as does a button press but the standby backlight.
-
@дима-мельниченко
maybe… but I don’t think so, it would be too soon now. I guess I can keep my watch until it effectively only lasts 12h with chest HR and performance mode… that’s longer than I last with one dinner “charge” -
@brad_olwin well in my case backlight was always off. Only enabled by toggle mode (Long press of upper left button). And usually it means it was enabled few seconds a day. Now it is enabled with every button press and received notification so it will be enabled not seconds but minutes a day since i use watch and notification regularly. Thats why i am worried about battery life, but as i said i will see in few weeks. Maybe it wil be unnoticable difference.
-
@freeheeler yes thats true, i am happy too when i move more often and do some bike or hike but i must say that last year i am more lazy than i would like to be. But i am working on change.
-
I think I found a backlight-related bug in my S9 (non-baro). Could someone try to replicate it?
My settings:
- Standby backlight: ON
- Raise to wake: ON
Choose any exercise and before you start it, set this up:
- Battery mode: Custom
- Display timeout: On
Start the exercise.
And now for that bug:
Once the display turns off, the button press wakes the display but it doesn’t turn on the backlight. Raise to wake also doesn’t work while the display is on. When you long press the middle button and enter the menu, backlight is still off. And even when you switch backlight to On in the menu it doesn’t work.Only in the moment when the watch shows “Display turning off. Press any button to turn back on.” the backlight works as expected. If you press any button during this, it will work as it should (until the display turns back off again).

@inkognito
confirmed with S9B -
@inkognito I’ll try and report it to Suunto.
-
Ghost runner is nice, I’ll use it for steady run that for me is the psychologically most difficult training.
-
@lorenzo12375 surprisingly enough I use it while hiking to see how fatigue impacts my speed over time.
