    Hi, the following happened to me last Friday, unfortunately not during training but during a race… :((
    When the race was started and I ran over the timing carpet, I pressed the Start button on my Suunto 9 - and the screen went black! I tried to flip through the pages with the middle button, but it stayed black. I tried to do a soft reset - continuing to run as I had passed the starting line already - and noticed that it beeped as if the buttons were still reacting despite the black screen. I tried to hold the upper button to soft-reset, but what happened instead is that I got back to the Exercise screen. Yet when I selected a sport mode, the screen went black again. Somehow I finally got to the Start screen again and this time it did work. When I later synched it turned out that the watch actually had recorded while the screen was black. Not sure if related but the watch lost the GPS signal several times for extended periods (10-45 minutes) during the activity. Any idea what has happened there, what I can do to prevent it from happening again, or how to best troubleshoot next time?

      @hoxha Here’s what the watch recorded: https://www.strava.com/activities/5527491269/overview

        @hoxha I looked at your track and indeed the watch lost the GPS signal, typically with a reboot it will take some time to re-acquire the signal. Another individual had a similar occurrence and Suunto is aware of this issue. I personally have never had this happen. Here is a potential way to avoid it. For a race I will start recording after the watch acquires GPS and HR, then I pause the recording immediately and start again when the race starts. If left on the start screen for a long time after acquiring the signals, this has happened to someone else. Sorry about this, the other possibility is to go to the exercise screen until you are ~1-2 min from the start.

          @brad_olwin Hi Brad and thanks, this is very useful. I had the Start screen open for quite a while indeed, thought that was the clever thing to do - apparently not! Will avoid next time. That’s probably why it never happened in training too.

            @hoxha This should get fixed, there is a bug filed for it and I am sorry it happened to you.
