Since the last softwareupdate the sportmode „trailrunning basic“ has changed. Now you can‘t see the vertical meters during an exercice any more. Any Idea how to fix this without creating a new personal sportmode? For trailrunning vertical meters are essential.

Is this a Bug in the new firmware? Will this be changed with the next update?

I have now downgraded the software to 2.8.20 again so that I have the usual display again.

@sebastian-pichler Just a question, why don’t you want to create a personal sportmode?

@sebastian-pichler I think a bad idea to downgrade, you are losing a much improved altitude algorithm and other fixes. Just create a custom sport mode, I have several custom Trail Running sport modes.

Why has the Sportmode in the last firmware been changed? I liked it the way it was.
What´s the reason of removing altitude information from a trailrunning mode? Is there any trailrunner who is not interested in vertical meters? I can‘t understand this „improvement“.

@surfboomerang why should i create a personal mode, when the standard mode from Suunto was good enough for me?

@sebastian-pichler I do not know the answer, but it is not a big deal. I would have preferred it as in the past too. It may have been done to accommodate different watches within the same codebase as the S5Peak has no barometer. At any rate, super easy to create and use a sport mode.

It has changed, now you have two basic modes of trail running.

Here a vide explaining it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO-ln---nuc

You have the mountain with ascend and the other with no ascend.

@bulkan Thanks! I use custom so don’t notice the changes

@sebastian-pichler I understand the question why it was removed in the latest firmware. No idea if there was a reason behind this or that it is a bug.

But as @Brad_Olwin says, by downgrading the watch you lose some of the fixes and other features. If a personalised sport mode gives you the data you want, it looks like a valid workaround to me.

Yes, there was a reason. It is basically about unification of some sport modes.

As mentioned before, there is the “Trailrunning Mountain” pre-defined sport mode. Plus as always creating your own sport modes is a main feature of sport watches. So I would not call this a workaround, but just a standard feature to use to design the data fields as you like it.
