Suddenly battery drop issue solved
-
Last nearly 3 years I am very satisfied user of Suunto 7 but occasionally I was facing sudden battery drop.
I noticed the issue is always connected with huge Bluetooth battery consumption. It happened every third day and it was hard to estimate my watches will survive till evening. I made many changes in settings but only airplane mode helped me to keep watches alive 2 and half days including everyday 40 min run.
How to solve the battery drop? Fist indicator is that when you look to your contact app in watches you will find mess of contacts. Your individual contacts repeat there tens or hundreds times. I recommend to erase data in this app (only in your watches), deactivate it (you will not see the name when somebody from your contacts will call you) but your watches will be like new. 40 hours with factory settings and two 40 minutes runs per this period will be your new standard

can you tell me how to deactivate the application, because I was looking for it, I can’t find it?

@Kajkom Settings - Applications - About Applications - Contacts - Deactivate

My contacts app has no duplicate contacts, and I have never had this battery drop issue, although I have been using this watch only for a month or so.
-
@isazi Maybe the reason is my large contact list. I don’t know but the problem is solved.

I have been using S7 since 2021, but stopped using after I got S5P and now S9PP, I only have 2 wrists ️and I get bt drain for apparently no reason from time to time. Turning on airplane mode only solves the issue, I use it with iPhone13P. I have never played with system app’s settings or permissions only installed apps. -

I don’t have any duplicates either - surely this would just be managed from within the phone contacts list?
I’d be interested to hear if this helps people, I don’t really have a battery life issue but like all S7 users I could always use more battery!

@James-Howes I merged 4 duplicate contacts on ios, waiting to see any difference at the end of a day.

@lexterm77 i was talking about duplicates in watches. It’s not connected with phone book in phone. I think it’s problem of huge contact list (more than 1.000 contacts) and synchronisation with watches. When it’s not finished it starts again and again… Suddenly you have hundreds copies of individual contacts. (My theory)

@James-Howes
I confirm that it works on my watch!!! The question is, what else can we disable applications to make the battery last longer. -
@Kajkom I am afraid that only offline mod can rapidly improve time without charging (60 hours) but you are loosing many benefits. 35 - 40 hours with regular outdoor workout. Maybe Suunto will surprise us with new processor in some new Suunto 7 Peak (unfortunately I don’t have any information about it)

@Tomas-Fejfar
i noticed that sms messages come with contact details as i have stored in my phone, should this also be an off switch to save battery power consumption even more? -
@Kajkom My recommendation after nearly 3 years of using:
- factory settings + switched off “Wake up when touch” (… and shower is not a problem )
- sleeping with switched off display + airplane mode (takes only 10 %)
- running 40 mins a day with GPS every 10 seconds
You can nearly reach 48 hours (40 for sure, rest depends on usage)
When you want survive weekend, same settings + offline mode

@Tomas-Fejfar I can now confirm that after using my S7 for 2 years with location from phone and watch always enabled, the last three have been an eye opener. Since disabling this feature as well as Auto WiFi, the S7 battery now is insanely good with HR monitoring, body resources, sleep tracking on & power save tilt to wake on. Using Suunto Finland watch face. The watch is constantly connected to WearOs via Bluetooth. Samsung S22
I unplugged the S7 at around 9am today and the battery is still holding above 80% in smart mode. To be fair not many notifications today all, but still remarkable result.
