Battery drains very quickly S9B
-
Hello, I have a problem with the battery on the S9B. A few days ago, my watch turned off at 15-20% charge, then it turned on, but after 1 hour it turned off again. After the watch was fully charged and next discharged in 10 hours. I did soft reset and hard reset. I downgraded and upgraded software. I tried to calibrate the battery (full discharge and full charge). The discharge didn’t depend on my actions. I have read suunto’s article “WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE ISSUES WITH THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERY OF MY SUUNTO PRODUCT?”. The article describes the following actions: you can let the watch battery run out completely, and when the watch is completely off plug it via the charging cable and an appropriate charging outlet and let it recharge fully. Once it’s fully recharged, perform a full factory reset. I had done it but didn’t have possitive result. The problem is really unpredictable because I hadn’t any problems with my watch until that day.
Maybe someone had or has same this problem?

Hi,
How old is your S9B?
I’d try a factory reset, if it doesn’t work, contact Suunto support ASAP
-
@zhang965 My S9B is 2 years old. I tried a factory reset by SuuntoLink after fully night charge. The discharge is 10%/h.
-
@Sergei-Ladeishchikov thanks for reporting. I have the same issue after the latest software update. Before the update the battery lasted for more than one week with 1-2 activities during that time. Now it doesn’t last even a full day after 100% charge without any activities, not even wearing the watch. I’ve tried full reset as recommended by the Suunto support, no success. Now they want me to send the watch for an inspection. To be honest I don’t want to pay for fixing an issue which is obviously caused by software.
-
@maxm23 hi! Have you tried downgrading the software and calibrating the battery?
-
@Sergei-Ladeishchikov No, I haven’t tried to downgrading the software and calibrating the battery. Wasn’t aware of that possibility. Where can I find the instruction how to do it?
-
@maxm23
Charge your watch to 100% then waiting it drops to 0 untill you can only see the empty battery icon all over the screen and charge again to 100%. -
@maxm23
you can find previous firmware here. download the one you want and pull it in SuuntoLink.
Battery calibration sometimes goes weird, but what you describe is clearly not normal. my watch works the same as before the upgrade

My watch I sent to unofficial service for diagnostic. There isn’t official service in my region and watch warranty ended.
-
@zhang965 Did that for 5 times in a row, as recommended by Suunto support, no improvement

@freeheeler thank you very much for sharing. I couldn’t find the 2.20.30 release, which is the second latest. Any idea where to get this one?

@zhang965 It would be fine if the battery capacity would go down by 5-10% after a certain time. But degreasing directly after the update by >80% is not ok.
-
@zhang965 the problem was happened in one day. Before this problem my watch had worked during 5 days with activities and after the problem my watch work during 10 hours without any activities.
-
@zhang965 Many thanks!

any trick how to install the “older” firmware? I’ve dragged and dropped the .zip file content to Suuntolink and connected the watch. It shows still the latest firmware. Does it need to be a Windows device?

Drop it on the gear icon if I remember anything
