Hi, finally I’m keeping my S9PP despite the OHR accuracy issues… So if I want to get some kind of usable HR data from it, I must purchase a HR chest strap.

Do you recommend the Suunto Smart Sensor, or would it be better to get other one like the Polar H10, Wahoo Tickr X…? Any experiences with the S9PP and HR chest straps?

      Thanks very much.

H10 is a good choice, it seems be able to connect 2 devices in the same time with Bluetooth and 1 device via ant+ so 3 in total.

And polar has very good reputation on hr sensor.

Suunto smart sensor works only with one Bluetooth device.

anyway, If don’t have any specific needs, then take … cheapest one…

@dmn23 I have a Suunto Smart sensor, and it works well. I can connect it seamlessly to both my Suunto 9PP and/or Hammerhead Karoo 2 for indoor workouts via Bluetooth. The only thing I dont like about it is the strap - it’s a bit flimsy and prone to getting stretched/wrinkled over time. In the past I had a Polar H10 and the strap was a bit more robust, and has more gel dots on the inside to hold it in place.

It is worth noting that suunto strap is the only one which can cache hr data and sync to the watch afterwards. This may be helpful if you want to track HR while you swim for example.

Hijacking this thread instead of creating a new one 🙂

I have the old strap for the smart sensor, any major benefits of the new strap on the store? Is the main difference just that it’s machine washable?

@Umer-Javed I think people had problems with longevity of the old strap. The new one should be better in that regard, I have it for more than a year with no issues.

@DMytro How can I determine if I have the new belt or the old belt? I bought it over a year ago. Its a smart sensor belt.

@sartoric Thats the Suunto belt I have. Photo attached of the area on the belt that has become permanently wrinkled/stretched thin. I’ve been wearing HRM’s for decades and this is the first belt to have warped on me. Before this I had Garmin RUN belt and Polar H10. DSC_0041.jpg

There is a small tip, polar products hr belt for horses as well…so if you can not find your size, I mean if… you know…

@Umer-Javed I don’t think that the new strap is machine washable, mine isn’t.

The replacement chest strap for your Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt. Also compatible with the Movesense Sensor. This item does not include the transmitter.

The chest strap is fully machine washable (remove the module first).

Yes cold water washing, cold as your ex’ heart.

Hot water will hurt the elastic part, if you do it with hot water, you can get a Suunto belt horse epical edition.

@zhang965 my H10 chest strap already smells like horse shit despite washing it in washing machine once a week and hand wash/rinse after every use…

Interestingly it’s not just that (even if that’s also a concern); it’s also that temperatures 40° and over will bind the protein residue from the skin to the rubber on the electrodes, permanently damaging the belt’s ability to properly read electrical signals.

Same issue for me, but belt is still working.
Other issues i had with suunto belts (New model) is that electrode material unsticked quite quckly.
Suunto changed them under warranty without issues.
As there seems to be some specialists there, which kind of glue could I use to try to fix them? I tried neoprene glue, but it doesn’t work long enough.
Belts are still working well though.

Hold on, if I wash my underwear in 40 degrees, will the protein stick on my underwear, or it’s only for electrodes?
