Swimming pool
-
@zen_pavel So far, I have used the Epix 2 Pro for swimming in the pool, among other things. For me too, the number of laps I swam was counted at random. Yesterday I swam with the SR for the first time and the number was tracked just right. may be random, but the algorithm in the race is probably better.

@Rango The Race has been accurate for too when pool swimming, with no issues and correct distance.

It’s a pity that you can’t add swim drill. Drills are important part of my pool swim training, so i can’t use any Suunto watches for swim (apart Ambit 3 and some others old models).
-
@zen_pavel if you can swim a lane pretty uninterrupted, all will be fine.
If you need to stop mid-lane for someone blocking the lane, it might happen, that the watch counts an extra lap. -
@Egika My S9 taught me to keep moving my left hand (at least slightly, approximately at the same rate as when swimming) whenever I am forced to stop mid-lane. It works great, although I must look a bit loony.

@Rango
F7/E2 have that stupid auto-rest feature - while it works for some its mostly doesn’t - we tend to move around too much while resting causing it to trigger another lap.
But yes if lanes are jammed E2 can count additional lap due to having to stop in lane. Normally just switch to a slower stroke so lane count is good, but does change lap to mixed stroke. -
@Jamie-BG it was way worse in my case. I didn’t stop, but slowed down and that added laps on F7. But at the same time several laps were missed without any obvious reason (I push every time at the begging).
Going to give a try to Race and hope for the best) -
Swam twice with my SR, and like my SV, it is still quite disappointing. In fact it’s worse for my SR. After both my swim, my watch showed 0 distance, and after syncing , my app showed 1,120 meters. Then when uploaded to strava, distance was 1,079. Correct distance should be 1,000. Each lap is 40m. Anyone experienced the same ?
-
@leafs93 Did you calibrate the swimming pool length on your watch before starting the activity?
-
@Kostas-Zinelis calibrate as in indicate the pool length ? Yes I did.
-
@leafs93 Watch indicated 0 distance even though the app after sync was 1120 meters. I have calibrated the pool length to 40m per lap. The correct distance I swam should be 1000m or 25 laps. And the weird thing is strava when sync is an even more weird number of 1079. Nothing unusual about my swim motion as I was wearing my Garmin 965 and it had no trouble detecting the right distance of 1000m

What neon/flourescent yellow strap is that you are using in this photo?
-
@Joakim-Ågren just another 22mm strap I bought online… very similar to suunto 9 lime strap.

No swimmers here facing this issue of watch showing zero distance on lap pool? I was hoping the new firmware would fix this but it is still showing zero distance on my watch but when sync with app, the app would correctly show the distance . Anyone ?

Unfortunately, the algorithm for counting pool lengths often fails. The conditions mentioned by other users on this forum to be met are not sufficient and you will either have to wait for an algorithm fix or a new watch. I myself am disappointed by this fact. In my case, the watch, SV, does not count all the lengths swum, at least 30%…
-
@Ars-Vitae I can understand if some laps are not counted. My issue is different as the laps are counted, just that they are not reflected on watch ( reflected as zero distance ) but on my Suunto App after syncing. Seems there ain’t many others with this issue though.

@leafs93 Indeed, that’s what you wrote, my fault for misreading. In that case I envy you, I would like to have at least such a problem, at least an accurate value in the Suunto App.
-
@leafs93 hi there; I’m new Suunto Race user. I have exactly same problem. watch says 0 mt. but apps says 2000mt. Traingpeaks sync says 2000mt. strava sync says 1999mt. today I updated to 2.30.38 version. I hope it fixed.
