Turn-by-turn does not work properly

When I follow a route that I have created in the Suunto app, I do not get a turn-off indication directly before a turn-off point. Instead, I get any other points (I’m not quite sure) that are a kilometer further on? I want to take the watch cross-country into the Scottish Highlands - I need directions that work even without clear forks in the road - namely a few meters before the actual point. Is that a mistake?
