See on the top of this post the updated video of my proposal Of course it is super basic and a good developer will do far much better that what I just put as a powerpoint animation but it allow to setup a basis for my ideas. One of the additional beauty of such a configurator is that it allwo to overpass the limitation of the second screen accessible by the central button, with the exact same logic (so no additional development cost) we could think to add a 2nd, but also a 3rd, 4th or why not 5th screen accessible by click on the central button. …

@Tom-Struzik The way I see this is Suunto wants Bluetooth connection to only go to the proprietary app. Since other apps can connect to it via the API (the way hundreds of apps do), that should be possible. Likely Mares instead wants direct access to the Bluetooth of the device, to sync directly. This will likely never happen, because how can one expect Suunto to give access to their devices to a direct competitor? I don’t believe either of these will change; but it’s tangentially more likely that #2 might change, as #1 definitely won’t (and for good reason).

@freeheeler Thanks for this. The main reference I have is Wahoo --> Strava. It’s really easy to set it to ‘manual upload’. The connection to Strava remains in place but you decide if you want that activity to be uploaded. The other use case here is the ability not only to decide if but also when you upload. Sometimes I don’t want to upload straight away. For example: I have a public Strava profile which I need for segments and leaderboards and I don’t want everyone knowing I’m away.

@Andi-Buzer Here You have a garmin statement about their solution. They are using baro for this and ‘moving forward’ Garmin devices that feature a barometric altimeter sensor can determine when you are going up or down by detecting a change in air pressure which will change as you climb or descend a flight of stairs or a hill, for example. Knowing this information allows the device to give you credit towards your daily floors climbed goal. What Are the Requirements to Receive Credit? In order to receive credit you need to meet the following requirements: A floor climbed is equal to 10 feet (3 meters) in elevation gain. Consistent arm movement tied to walking as you climb. Riding in an elevator would not earn you credit nor would riding a bike up a hill/mountain. Stopping in the middle of climbing could result in loss of credit. …and I Am Not Getting Enough Credit Credit is given for an consecutive increase of 10 feet (3 meters) in elevation with a grade of 10% or higher. For the most accurate measurement do not hold onto the hand rail when climbing stairs. Do not skip stairs (walking up every other stair). When walking outdoors, the grade of the hill needs to be at least 10% which is an angle of about 6 degrees. Remember that to earn credit towards your goal you must be moving forward and up. Elevators: You move up but not forward. Exercise equipment: With most equipment you do not move up or forward. source: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=LJ6vYF2phv7JUAOlsRRjC8

@zanxion said in Weight tracking from within the app: Would it be possible to add the ability to track ones weight from within the app? It could be something like adding your weight and the app storing the date and the weight. Please use search. @Egika Yup, I know that very well. Sometimes I don’t want Kamoot to sync route to SA. I use kamoot regularly to plan future adventures, but I don;t want all of them in SA. And now that we have SA on Win11, it is a shame that we don’t have better route planner on the big screen I also have payed Kamoot world, it is a great app. Sometimes I use SA route planner just to explore, play around, figure out distances, elevation, etc. And if I want more detailed stuff, I HAVE to switch to kamoot in order to see more stuff.

@MiniForklift said in Custom profiles in sports: @zanxion I’ll sometimes use the ‘Target’ feature before I start an activity, before you press start you can find it if you scroll down. In there you can set either a time or distance target, so for example if you set it for 5km you will be alerted when you have reached it I use that too. It is just that sometimes out in low light I can barely make out the screen on my watch and I wanted something that can be easily distinguished and used as a preset. What @Brad_Olwin suggested did the trick wonderfully! Thank you!

@Antoine Originally, the topic was about Suunto Vertical (since it is in that category) and requested something similar as Garmin ClimbPro (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/garmin-technology/running-science/physiological-measurements/climbpro-feature/). After that the discussion about the app functionality started in the same topic, since somethin similar started to appear in the SuuntoApp beta version…

I do see that Coros has this option now on their watches. Cycling season is about to start here. Hopefully this one made it on the Suunto radar (Race S is the nicest watch out there in its class in my opinion).

@Mff73 You gave a good example. In my opinion, the blue pictogram shows well enough that it is ski touring and it is not necessary that this is written in bold and repeated constantly. There is no added value in this inscription. Instead, it could be a title that I could write myself. The descriptions field is still well-placed and useful. Below is a picture of how I imagined it. Agree. And this also needs to be type spesific : running vs. trail running. Values and FTPs are different.
