@sky-runner I agree with you on these points and would throw Coros into this basket as well. While they have some huge names in trail running wearing (being paid to wear)their watches, they still focus most on road running. 7 Day efficiency score does not work for trail running and I feel like the analysis for road runs is more complete than with trail runs. They also are lacking any kind of climb pro and I feel like they may never if Lewis Wu is not wowed by a competitors version of it. Maps are a bit better because you can zoom out and still see trails above 500 ft. Their turn by turn is also better and they have proper interval screens for training.
I enjoy just going out and running with my Suunto, but training with the watch if there is intervals or multiple stages is average AT best, Even when I build the intervals in the Suunto app which is a huge pain in the a$$ compared to just having them come over from TrainingPeaks, they are not intuitive or very useful compared to Coros or Garmin on road or trail. I mention it here only because I am not staring at my watch on trail like I could on road. They have made improvements, but we are not there.
I know this is further off topic, but I cannot understand why my Suunto is not able to read power from my JetBlack Victory trainer. Super annoying that it only does cadence and speed. I have to use power pedals if I want to record power on my Suunto. Coros and Garmin can both read all that my Victory trainer is transmitting.
Love the watch, love the brand, but hope that these standards could be reached for cycling.
