I removed Suunto from the “Launch Items” and then it worked. Not sure why it stoped working from the beginning but it kind of makes sense that it fails when I reinstalled the app. I think it is strange that it kept the auto launch after I removed it and reinstalled it. Many thanks for the help and feedback.

I do not follow the Suunto news that much and was only aware of these developments the e-mail sent out by Suunto end of April. Very well put! My father was an avid Ambit user. Hiking, Climbing, Trekking, Running, Alpinism - Winter & Summer. After a while I got jealous and bought my Ambit 2 late 2014. The first Ambit 3 was already out by then, but as I didn’t need the wireless connectivity for tracking heart rate while swimming, or connectivity to a smart phone and was on a budget, I purchased the Ambit 2. I think now, I would still chose Ambit 3 over Spartan or Suunto 9: I do not need a colored touch screen on my watch that I take in to the outdoors, where it is likely to be bashed by rock and ice… And I can’t operate a touch screen with gloves… It had everything I needed and still checks all the boxes today. For me it looked better than a Garmin or Polar, because I felt I could do more with it then just go running or cycling (for example by having the many different sport modes, which I could even customise). So my vote goes to a platform that can be accessed on a pc, where I can upload data, download routes I create, create sport modes, … and connect with my cable. Any replacement should have the same capabilities as Movescount. But for me movescount is perfect, so in my opinion “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”. I indeed also link through to Strava, where I have linked the Stravistics / Elevate app. As an engineer I have always been a freak for numbers and love the analysis I can do of my work-outs or outdoor trips in the mountains. What is the best way to follow the news on this subject and where can we show Suunto that we would not like movescount to disappear?

Yes, this is absolutely essential!! I don’t get it why Suunto cannot offer a simple piece of offline SW that would transfer the date to/from the watch to start with? Or, better still, why they do not open the USB communication protocol for the Ambit so people could come up with their own code? What are they afraid off?

@silentvoyager I agree with that. A proper plan would have been to listen, gather feedback and come up with a ready to use App and web interface. It does not need to be perfect in the beginning, but it needs to be there. What Suunto is doing now: they’re promoting the Suunto App as their new solution without any web interface behind and all users they install it are the guinea pigs. I hope for Suunto (and even more for all users!) that they’ll have a proper solution, soon. There are several companies that almost closed down because of wrong planning and product release.

@marcosss well the point for me was, having a garmin a new firmware comes out. something gets fixed, something already worked before gets messed up. and again and again. for example navigation on the watch is not working now since february. but it worked before. so now your waiting for a fix since 4 and a half months. thats only an example.

@rob-t I am irritated as well. I had everything set up with tags and now this very useful feature is gone and my tags were lost with the transfer to the new platform. At least I can export my moves list from MC with tags, but then I have to make due with the GPXs as well if I want to build something myself. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted, time to move on and forget about Suunto.

Yeah I guess so, but in the meantime I have no good solution to use my Traverse. Personally, I’m not ok with my precise location data being exposed. A lot of my day rides start from my house, so that’s my exact home location. I’m surprised that Suunto is willing to take the risk of a major data breach on like this. I’m sure there’s some kind of regulations in various countries that they are not compliant with. Oh well, it is what it is. I’m crossing my fingers on routes and POIs using SA. I could be satisfied if I had those.

@sartoric said in Sports Tracker: Simple, they don’t and this should remain like that… ST is not up to what we need. I think it was a mistake from Suunto to announce their partnership with ST as it really doesn’t give you anything but a database. It’s like you would buy a santa cruz bike but you notice it was made at any factory partnering with aliexpress… no good for any high quality reputation it’s nice that we have a database and it’s nice that SA is slowely progressing (waiting for this winter exclusion of chairlift activities total ascent summary…!!!), but what ST is showing is pretty poor IMHO.

@isazi This feature is useful, but I still miss the old personal bests/annual progress format of MC. Is there a plan to implement somthing similar to it? Thank you.

@MartinLX said in Movescount web features: Strava lets you edit your moves, i.e. crop, split, QS let you crop and even merge. you can even decide if you want to keep the merged data separate, outside of your statistics or if you want to have them integrated. QS is under permanent development with constructive inputs from it’s users with pretty much direct contact to the developer. It is a very powerful tool and I must confess, if there is only one tool to choose, I am definitely going to pick QS!
