Hello
I just got the Suunto Ocean last week and had my first freediving session. It is also my very first smart watch of any kind. I like it for it’s simplicity and clean interface but I would appreciate some slight improvements in the freediving mode that I have seen requested by other divers as well:
Surface screen to have an alarm that is twice your last dive time, it would be nice if the arch represents this time too. I am a novice diver so I do t really go to depths where the other rules apply but they should be included as this is advertised as a dive watch. I currently just set an alarm for 2 minutes as I don’t exceed 1 minute but it would’ve been nice if the arch could also represent this surface time.
I’ve seen many complaints about the fields in the screens or lack of specific fields. For me I would like to be able to see the last dive time on the surface screen, otherwise I am happy with everything else on the screens and having the heart rate and temperature etc on the cyclic field. However, I believe the easiest way to satisfy all complaints on this topic is to just have the same customization of the screens for the freediving mode like you can with the basic modes when creating a new sport mode.
It would be nice if one could disable the touch screen for a sport mode. My touch screen freaked out when I was on the surface trying to mark a POI using the buttons.
A few bugs I have noticed:
While freediving, the default field in the cyclic fields is the max depth, it did not update after the next dive with a deeper max depth. Even after cycling through all the fields and landing back on the max depth field, it still showed the max depth from my first dive. It did at least record the max depth correctly in the logbook.
After ending the freedive activity, on the watch face, the surface time was displayed instead of my date complication while using the shark face. Even after changing the complication to something else it kept displaying the surface time. This was fixed after I changed to a different watch face.
