I had today 2 activities with partly very bad / no GPS in easy circumstances. GPS fix was done in the morning. Never had this before.

    Two questions:

    • Did fix in the morning in Germany and went then to Austria. Is this crucial for GPS? Should I have done fix later in Austria.
    • Does it matter to give green arrow time? That means wait a minute or so with green arrow in the beginning, before pressing start. Today I was very quick in start pressing…

Would be interesting if there are further reasons…

    Thanks.

Not really. It could lead to a slower time for the watch to get a good GPS fix, but once you have a good fix should not matter much. Unless you are in difficult terrain and lose satellites, in that case without ephemeris it can be more difficult to find new satellites.

It is generally good to wait a minute, although it depends on the difficulty of the terrain (and satellites positions, etc.).

@mountainchris Maybe I should but I never wait after the green GPS arrow is solid. I rarely have issues but it does happen.

I had a really bad gps experience today also . I did Snap to route to align it during the expertise but it was also terrible and the distance and the metrics are all over the place . Actually a 5km shows (snapped to route ) as 3,8km
. During the run the device the auto pause was enabled even though I had a 5:30/km pace .
The average he pace shows 6.05m/km and the NGP as 7:23…
