@egika I don’t think there’s an official statement. And I might be wrong of course, I think I either read it in the forum, or saw in a video. Don’t have s9p myself.

@spree said in Suunto 9 Peak maximum battery life:

The main item anyhow is GPS systems. Using Galileo or Glonass alone immediately reduces battery life (even the expected one shown by the watch) to 21 hours instead of 25.

The official battery life of 25 hours is with Glonass, not with GPS only.

@isazi I was actually using the 9 Baro stats, thanks for pointing that out; it’s true that the 9 Peak actually (when using OHR) has longer battery life than the 9 and 9 Baro.
Glonass and Galileo do use more battery compared to not using them, but the official (and exepcted, in fact) battery life is still 25 with them on so I was wrong.

@spree indeed for the 9B 24/25 hours is with GPS only. The 9P with GPS only gets closer to 29/30.

@isazi Ah i see. i did turn on S+ Features
Although my notification is turned on but i did not receive any notification because i already turned off my mobile phone Bluetooth.

Besides that, I also use setting below for my 3 hours hike:

              Autolap: Off
              GPS System: GPS+QZSS+GLONASS
              Backlight: Off
              Brightness: Medium
              Standby: Off
              Raise to wake: Off

Since battery consumption is not linear, next time i will try again for the longer hike.

Thanks everyone for the reply and provide very useful informations.

using the “display timeout” battery saving feature will definitely increase battery life significantly

Is there any way to turn on “display timeout” without using Custom setting threre?

@babychai No, you must set up a custom battery setting to use display timeout.

Hi can you set a custom battery mode on the Peak 9? The manual says you can but I read somewhere else that you can only do it on the 9 and I can’t see an option in the app. Thanks!

@loopylou72 I can confirm that this is possible. Same options as for the S9B.
Custom battery mode is set in the watch. Not in the app.

@Brad_Olwin looks nice! My watch died on my 30hr run. I had changed the settings but still had the best GPS. For future reference, if using the ‘good’ GPS what is the impact of this on distance/pace accuracy?

                                        Screen saver on
                                        Screen brightness low
I had turned autolap off but in the race it was on, I think because I changed the settings in the normal battery mode and later switched to manual battery to enable the screen saver/screen time-out not realising this would affect the general settings I’d set up so this may have drained more battery… the watch suggested switching to endurance mode as it ran low but still died. If I’d just used endurance mode I was worried it would affect my other data ie pace, distance, elevation?

@loopylou72 Endurance mode affects pace a bit but not enough to worry about in a 30h race. Autolap definitely reduces battery life. I doubt I can get 30h in Performance mode even using the custom settings you did. I would switch to Endurance mode or start out that way. I have a ~30h race coming up and I will use Endurance mode on the S9P. Endurance will not affect distance much if at all due to FusedTrack, which is amazing.
