Suunto 9 Baro AGPS n/a

@cosme-costa yeah, I was asking a few times now for an option in Suunto app to be able to switch off automatic GPS optimization, I think the watch will do fine even with a few days old GPS data, but it could help in such cases. I’m also almost in hurry like you said, and I do not want to waste time with checking GPS data is okay or hanging there for get a fix.

@Mitch9
under settings, general, about… recently on Friday and weekend days it seems AGPS is missing.
it always says N/A.with resetting the watch it will not come back. as it is missing completely, we can’t rely on an older file.
the only thing is to wait until satellites are locked and start the activity only then.
it also took me couple of minutes, sometimes 10… but it’s better than having a completely wrong track… if time allows of course! -
@freeheeler Thx!
Yes, also N/A on my watch. This really limits the usage.

You just gave me an idea: I should make another sport profile with GPS turned off as mostly I don’t care about the track, but I should check first how correct some of the metrics will be reported without GPS. If this works, then when in hurry I use the one without GPS and other times the complete one

it always says N/A.Same for me actually
-
@MiniForklift
it was like that in the last couple of weeks, not sure about the root cause… we’ll see -
I have the same problem - no AGPS last few days in my S9B. Maybe bug in beta SA? I haven’t check it with previous version.
-
@paata
Suunto is informed about it…
I personally don’t see it very critical, but it is a disadvantage… I was also standing for some time in the street on a saturday morning, waiting for satellites to be locked
Since we all expect “june”, soon, I assume it could be solved then -
This is solved today I think, check it in your watches.
-
@Bulkan Yes, the fix was unusual fast this morning and I checked the AGPS data.
Great that this problem was solved!
-
Yep all good and fixed for me, well done with the speedy fix
-
Keep reporting if this happens, we need to keep Suunto informed to find a permanent solution.
-
Happened to me again today.
-
@Prenj
confirmed… sunday is the new friday then… -
N/A value too on my S9B today. Too bad, it was a race, and gps recording was very bad and interrupted…No problem on my wife’s S9P wife and on a friend’s A3P…
Nevertheless total distance and pace where strangely accurate…
-
@Tieutieu
AGPS helps to lock satellites faster.
it’s now too late… but if you have waited until the arrow is steady and not searching anymore, it should not have a negative effect on your track recording and values.I’m sorry your race hasn’t been recorded properly…
anyhow, Suunto knows and it looked like it was solved. let’s observe more and please report here if you notice again AGPS: N/A -
@freeheeler : I had prepared my watch few minutes before the race, and had no reason to check (It usually takes less than 20sec to get GPS signal). Discovered the signal was off when the race started
Not a big deal anyway. -

Not a big deal anyway.… and the “mysteriously” accurate speed etc should be the (in)famous “fused speed” feature, that uses more or less all available sensors in the watch to estimate (quite nicely for me, too) speed and distance … even without GPS reception and thereby without nice track on the map.

Exactly what I tought ; had the issue during another race last September, and same “accuracy”.
Works pretty well so ! -
It happens again. So it’s not solved yet.
