Suunto 9 Baro AGPS n/a
-
It’s been reported to Suunto. In case you don’t have AGPS available, just leave your watch outside for 15/20 minutes looking for GPS, for example recording an activity that you can discard after. The watch will download the ephemeris directly from the satellites this way.
BTW the AGPS files come from Sony, so it may even not be Suunto’s fault in this case (just to be clear).

@fritzbt2013 thanks for your hint, but I rebooted several times.
-
@el2thek thanks for your reply. GPS fix lasts several minutes with my watch.
-
@isazi what makes me wonder: Had the same symptom some weeks ago with my old watch and the Suunto support sent me a new watch. But what you are describing seems to be a software problem…

AGPS not in sync is commonly a “data” issue, but it could be also an hardware issue (your watch cannot sync due to some hardware failure)
That said, AGPS it’s just a way to speed up GPS fix so if you’re problem was also a very long fix time, maybe something was faulty in your gps hardware -
Today I got the AGPS file.
-
@cosme-costa Me too! Let’s hope!
-
Me 2.
-
Today I do not have AGPS file again.
I relay on the background sync and when I went for my morning run, the watch wasn’t able to get a GPS lock, I checked and AGPS was missing. Because in the morning I do not have much time I had to start my run without GPS signal so you can imagine how bad is the track.
After the run I did a soft reset and killed the app in the mobile but I still don’t have AGPS file.
I think that someone at Sony or Suunto should check what happens with the AGPS file. I do not want to imagine that this happens to me just before a race.
-
@cosme-costa Today and yesterday it takes very long to get a fix, too.
But how can I check the AGPS data? Watch or App?
-
@cosme-costa yeah, I was asking a few times now for an option in Suunto app to be able to switch off automatic GPS optimization, I think the watch will do fine even with a few days old GPS data, but it could help in such cases. I’m also almost in hurry like you said, and I do not want to waste time with checking GPS data is okay or hanging there for get a fix.

@Mitch9
under settings, general, about… recently on Friday and weekend days it seems AGPS is missing.
it always says N/A.with resetting the watch it will not come back. as it is missing completely, we can’t rely on an older file.
the only thing is to wait until satellites are locked and start the activity only then.
it also took me couple of minutes, sometimes 10… but it’s better than having a completely wrong track… if time allows of course! -
@freeheeler Thx!
Yes, also N/A on my watch. This really limits the usage.

You just gave me an idea: I should make another sport profile with GPS turned off as mostly I don’t care about the track, but I should check first how correct some of the metrics will be reported without GPS. If this works, then when in hurry I use the one without GPS and other times the complete one

it always says N/A.Same for me actually
-
@MiniForklift
it was like that in the last couple of weeks, not sure about the root cause… we’ll see -
I have the same problem - no AGPS last few days in my S9B. Maybe bug in beta SA? I haven’t check it with previous version.
-
@paata
Suunto is informed about it…
I personally don’t see it very critical, but it is a disadvantage… I was also standing for some time in the street on a saturday morning, waiting for satellites to be locked
Since we all expect “june”, soon, I assume it could be solved then -
This is solved today I think, check it in your watches.
-
@Bulkan Yes, the fix was unusual fast this morning and I checked the AGPS data.
Great that this problem was solved!
