Indeed, I don’t think there will be surprises with next S3/S5/S9(not PP) update, literally everything in there has already been discussed here. It is mostly an “under the hood” update to make S+ better, and lots of S+ are already available and coming (Strava segments, connection to not standardized sensors, Stryd metrics in real-time, new training functionalities).
The good news is that S+ can be released at any time after this update, and updated really fast in case of bugs.

@isazi I have high expectations with the suunto 9 peak update. Opening or returning a “box” bought on Black Friday depends on that update… 😂

@jjpaz well, what do you expect from this update? There is nothing you don’t really know will be there honestly. The S9P will get what S9PP has, except for all the features (such as UI, power, depth measurements) that depend on newer hardware. If you don’t like your watch now, you should not wait for updates to change it. If you like it already, the same.

@taziden Bug corrections and not new bugs inclusion, nothing special 😁
In general I’m satisfied with S9P. I have suffered several “little/medium” bugs (many have been commented here in the forum) so I hope they will be corrected and general watch performance will be improved.

@Markus I am afraid Suunto is in dreamland when it comes to updating any of its watches. Some have been forgotten for nearly two fucking years!!! I mean it…… I have a brand new replacement S7 sitting on the shelve gathering dust. Guess what, my daily driver is a Garmin instinct Solar. Where do I start it’s day and night when it comes to functionality, comfort, battery life, ABC, SpO2 and the rest….

All I see here is topic after topic about the Peak pro. If Suunto treated older watches with some TLC I would have remained. Don’t get me wrong I have praised the S7 many times on this form however, my lack of interest towards is purely driven by Suunto’s non existing support and ignorance.

@BinoWorld-UK of course it’s a huge difference compared to a WearOS device. Not even mentioning the display. Could say the same comparing it with a Suunto 9 (which is older and has been getting updates).

Glad you found a watch you are happy with though.

I wonder why you decided to get an S7 when you’re now happy with an instinct? they 2 completely different watches

@freeheeler The only reason I got the S7 is the nice OLED screen and the companion app.

ok, I see. it was a serious question, since my wife bought S7 without me knowing and recently I played a quiz with her. based on the result we’ve ordered the pro for her 😉
I still think S7 is a great watch, but users have to need/use the functions it offers to benefit from it over other watches

@freeheeler I agree, it’s a nice watch but, certain things could have been improved over nearly two years. I know it’s an android watch but at its heart it’s still Suunto tiles. The fact that Suunto only bothered with 4 or 5 stock faces tell you the complete story. S7 was an idea that materialised to a watch that its faith lies with a rubbish Wearos that eats battery and doesn’t offer much. Anyway, my point was Suunto done make a watch if you are going to neglect it. Simple fact. Cheers

@BinoWorld-UK I think you are forgetting/leaving out how the Suunto 7 was when it came out. It couldn’t navigate routes; it couldn’t customize sport modes; it didn’t have a battery-saving GPS mode; it couldn’t track sleep, or independelty track daily HR (it was done by Google Fit only with a crappy implementation), and therfore no body resources.

All of that was added in the first 15 months after release.

@Spree to be fair a Suunto 7 should have never been released without those basic features that every other watch has by default. Suunto was asking for stupid money at release for a watch without all the features you mentioned 🤣🤣

@BinoWorld-UK Honestly, if someone is missing functionality or thinks the price is too high they shouldn’t buy a device. I know updates are common, but I believe you shouldn’t buy something hoping it will get an update.

In the end if you don’t get an update you won’t lose functionality.

@el2thek We are going around circles here?

This discussion is turning rather pointless. I am seeing few here including you not liking constructive criticism of a slacking company. Do me a favour and don’t jump the on the last message and respond. You are totally missing the point I am making.

I am entitled to my own opinion and what I think of Suunto as a compnay. Btw, my response is based on the original question in this thread so for you to pipe up and tell me what I should do is silly really. I purchased the S7 and yes it did receive the update and so what. It all stopped there 15 months ago. Poor…

@BinoWorld-UK You bought a product that somewhat didn’t meet your needs. That’s fair enough. Though that’s what the product is. Sure there could have been updates, but you didn’t lose any functionality either.

As said before. I’m happy you found a watch that seemingly for now does meet your needs. Which, going by your choice, are quite different to what the S7 had to offer in the first place.

And to stay on this topic, the S3/5/9 (peak) all just got an update.

@freeheeler I actually have an Instinct, an S7, an S9 and a Forerunner 245. I use the Suunto 7 as my daily driver for work. It’s been outstanding. I use the 9 and the 245 for running and ultra’s, and the Instinct for hiking and bashing around. They can all co-exist nicely depending on your use case 🙂 The Instinct is actually just a better looking Fenix 🙂
