I have an old seamaster, for the same reason I use a Suunto, it’s reliable, robust and I don’t care about connected feature if I’m not in an activity.

I had S9B, S9P and S9PP, they are all the same for me. Same menu, same everything. I dont care about watchface, especially the new one, I like simplicity and readability.

Sometime I see people debating small details with too much passion. It’s a smartwatch, people should not overthink it.
Discuss it, ok, that’s why we are here, but ranting about small details, that’s not ok, people should take a step back and think. Is a watchface font really important ? Two misplaced pixels are really a problem ?

Lol, if you think people overthinking about it, why you debate with me. Your débat is really important? Your Omega is really important?

It’s time to get bed, tomorrow you still need to run at Montsouris with some funny furry animals.

You don’t see the difference with discussing and ranting, that’s kinda sad.

Tomorrow it’s surf session, that’s important, so not rat, maybe jellyfish tho.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I actually my Suunto’s have better OHR in colder weather than my Forerunner 245 which seems to struggle badly for whatever reason.

well I am not a fan boy, I like to take all my investment seriously and as free man I am also free to criticize… but beside of that in this post you will see at least 10 points on which suunto 9pp could improve, and that’s what matters

YES…now maybe you put your expectations very low, but please consider that other maybe would have a bit more quality, watch is not for free and for 499eur I do expect much more

@A Former User Genuine question, since you mention expectations. You talked about the design of the watch before. Especially the bezel and the sound when you press a button.

What were your expectations? The general watch design is, I believe, fairly clear before purchasing it. The sound when you press a button perhaps less, though it has been mentioned in reviews (already for the 9 peak).

I agree, I have feature I’d like to have too, but bashing the watch for some minor details or because it’s not the watch primary purpose is pointless. And the way of saying it too could be smoother.

And I’m not a Suunto fanboy, I purchased another brand to my wife, because other brand watch was better for her need.

I guess I am shocked about how little has been changed in the positive way, from perspective that I am coming from SA3P after 7 Y of usage, and I would not like to repeat my self (have same opinion as Zhang) and I made my comments above what I don’t like.

expectation, well it should first work properly

thank you, if not I will just stay with SA3P as long is supported or else I will just use smartphone instead

@A Former User Well…I think a lot of people think that they bought a spaceship instead of a watch.

I agree with others that your expectacions maybe are/were wrong, but not with the watch itself, more with the technology. Eventually all the watches have the same components (or similar), they get data, they process it and then they present it to you. So, in my opinion the sport/outdoor watches technology is very mature and do not expect any magic that will revolutionize the market, and this has been like that since the A3 or even before.

Right now the differences between watches and brands are: UI, features (how they treat the data that the watch has gathered), quality of the components… For the future I expect more battery life, better accuracy, less bezels, maybe some smart (software) feature, but not much more.

I can agree with you and others that Suunto has some basic functions that are a joke (like the timer function that is simpler than a 3 euros watch toy) and this usually left you with a feeling of getting less than with the previous model. But then, Suunto have others functions that are extremely clever and useful.

BTW you complain about the toughness of the watch but have you put it to test? I believe it is only your feeling, I want facts and pictures.

Then you say you expect more from the watch because of the price and latter you say long live to the garmin 7x solar saphire, here you have lost part of your credibility IMHO. It is like the people that say that iphone does better photos than a 200€ android phone, well I wouldn’t expect less. Hope you are lucky with your garmin, my Edge 530, in less than two years, has restarted middle activity, hanged, lost sensors and in consequence stored bad data, etc more times than my 3 Suunto watches combined in more than 6 years (A3, SSU and S9B).

BTW, I would like to know which are the limitations in development due patents (infringements and royalties), I’m pretty sure that we will be surprised. Now a days, patents, are a key part in any product.

@cosme-costa Great answer. And the guy also says that he would “use the smartphone instead”. I mean that says it all. It’s nice that he has his opinion, everybody can have their opinion. But there isn’t much to take away from it. He clearly doesn’t have much to say from the constructive criticism point of view.
