Hello, i want to ask, on S5P it tracks sleep outside of set up hours. It is set to track between 22:00-8:00 but it starts tracking sleep even at 21:30 if there is no movement (watching tv for example). Is this correct? Do not disturb times are set to 21:00-8:00? Could there be bug that DND times are used for sleep tracking?

I find out there was already topic about this issue with S5 more than year ago. I read again all its thread and still not sure if its bug or feature 😉

I would expect that being on couch without movement should not be counted as sleep if it is outside of sleep tracking hours. Same if you take watch of your wrist before sleep tracking hours it should not count as sleep time only because watch are not moving.

@Tomas5 issue is that if you go to bed at 21.30 you do want it to track it as sleep.

For me, S9PP has very bad: whr, sleep tracking and step counting. I didn’t expect miracles in that field. I wish those were much better though.

@el2thek well if i understand manual correctly, i should set sleep times as wide as possible to cover every case when i go to sleep. So if i set up times 22:00 - 8:00 it is clear that i will never go sleep sooner so i will never want to track sleep at 21:30.

@Tomas5 the watch can track sleep also outside the hours you set for sleep, your preferred sleep hours are to help the algorithm, not the only time you’re allowed to sleep.

@isazi I would love to see, that you could edit sleep times manually in the app. Sometimes they’re just way off. Can’t be that hard to implement

@isazi that clarify everything, could be mentioned in user manual.

What about naps during the day? The watch turns itself off when there’s no motion detected, which also turns off the HR sensor and regeneration, etc.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel If you enable Do Not Disturb mode, the HR sensor does not turn off even when no motion is detected during day. I learned this hack already with Spartans and wonder if it is mentioned somewehere for S5/S9…

Plus, the S9P and S9PP should recognize whether you are wearing them or not and should keep the HR sensor on while they’re on your hand (even in no motion cases)… at least that’s what I assume… I hope this will come to future S5P successor…

                            SV: fingers crossed :D
S9 (non-baro): died after 2 months, replaced, holding strong since 03/20
Spartan Trainer: casing broke after 23 months, repaired, lost watertightness 5 months later, died
Despite some pretty bad luck, I still love Suunto!

@inkognito I also hope that s5p successor will get more powerful processor and GPU from s9pp.

@inkognito it doesn’t work like this in S9PP. I’m always having a nap with dnd enabled, and I have missed readings for when I’m not moving.

@Tomas5 it’ll continue measuring even if motionless in the time window specified as sleep time.
