    Hi,
    I’m owner of 9PP and an occasional recreational diver. When I’m diving, I don’t use any dive computer and don’t intend to have another device for the occasional diving. I have always used my watch to at least track my time underwater and with 9PP I have used the snorkeling mode for this. It was great that I had a depth meter until 10m that I could use as a backup for my safety stop as the rented analog equipment does not always work.
    I have noticed that even at 9.9m, the dept meter was really accurate. It made me wonder whether the physical sensor on the watch is capable of measuring greater depths and is only limited to 10m via software?
    It would be amazing to have a depth meter that would go till 20 or 30m, as that is usually the limit for recreational diving anyway. If it is only software limited, it would be just a very small fix on Suunto side and it would help a lot of their customers.

      @sqlerrm the limitation is the sensor (it has to work accurate on high altitude too), not software.

            the question would be : if 20m was setup in the sensor (as Egika explained), what would be the consequences in term of Altitude measurement out of the water.
            Pros and cons.

              @Mff73 you would loose altitude accuracy.
              Reaching down to 20m under water results in 1bar additional pressure.
              1bar=1000hpa
              Around sea level 1hpa=8m of altitude.
              So the factor of pressure change above and below sea level is 1:8000

              Cannot figure out the rest of the math, but altitude would jump in like big steps and not the 1m we are used to.
