@Tomas-Prochazka Thanks for letting us know. Cheers 😆

To me this longer wait feels like “after releasing FW for SV we found some bugs… we are going to fix these first” 🙂

      SV: fingers crossed :D
S9 (non-baro): died after 2 months, replaced, holding strong since 03/20
Spartan Trainer: casing broke after 23 months, repaired, lost watertightness 5 months later, died
Despite some pretty bad luck, I still love Suunto!

@inkognito I have a Suunto Race and I hope that statement is the mindset from Suunto development team 😁 there are some bugs in the race indeed but I prefer wait a bit more and get a software update instead of a software downgrade 😅😅

Which is surely a good thing, no? I bought the SV as soon as it came out but many of the new features such as improved widgets, HRV etc actually went to the SR first. So those of us that had bought Suunto’s flagship watch had to do without those features, initially we didn’t even know if they were going to flow through to the SV. Now it feels a bit like we’re the guinea pigs for testing the new update and ironing out the bugs… which I’m sure is not the case as an update wouldn’t knowingly be released with bugs

On a personal note I think the new update is great, I’ve only had two things happen that shouldn’t be happening and they’re definitely more of a glitch than anything serious. Every man and his dog seems to be complaining about sleep tracking and HRV but for me they are perfectly adequate; I know what time I get into bed and I look at my watch as soon as I wake so I already have a pretty good idea of how I’ve slept

With regards to HRV and many of the other new metrics I view them as useful bonus information and I’ll run them alongside how I am feeling, energy levels and what I perceive as my required training needs. These algorithmically-derived numbers and information can be helpful but IMHO nothing really beats learning how to gauge your own recovery; with myself being an older athlete I have grown up having to do this, all of my early years of training were penned and logged in notebooks because watches and Strava didn’t yet exist. Maybe the younger generation that exists today have a different mindset because of phones, computers and watches being permanently at their fingertips 😱

@MiniForklift I used excel spreadsheets to track rides & perceived effort for quite a while, so I can relate.

@jjorgemoura Good luck with the switch. I was looking at the V3 but pretty brutal reviews on it so far from DC Raimake, Desfit and others. Plus, no sapphire crystal, and light on the WR and specs makes it more of a running watch than adventure watch. Hope it works out for you!

@Tomas-Prochazka Just out of curiosity, what was the deciding factor for the Vantage V3? Obviously not positive reviews as stated above

I switched to the Grit X Pro for a few months when I had my S9, but too many things about it ended up bugging me. Plus the legibility of the screen whilst running was not great at all - there’s still a review up on here somewhere

Also I nterested to hear your impressions of the V3 and would love to hear your thoughts on the comparison between the two

@mikekoski490 I had Polar watches previously, and believe me, even with some lag opening widgets, the delay in turn to wake up the screen, the race is far more reliable than Polar in terms of accuracy in pace and distance. They have some good tools in terms of recovery and thats it. And only have the full view of the metrics if you are in the Polar flow web . In the app is very basic. So even for running is not a better watch. I changed from Polar to Garmin 5 years ago and don’t regret, but lately Garmin started to annoying me with all the fancy metrics we don’t need and are gimmicks, telling me when i should training or not and decide to explore the simplicity of Suunto with the Race. And for my needs works like a charm, pace and distance accurate,I use a chest strap,so HR is not a problem for me, have a great design, build quality and gorgeous amoled display, great app , easy to understand,so nothing to much to complain. Even the price is great compared with V3 or epix 2. I think Suunto is going in the right way, hope they can fix this small bugs instead of starting adding features.

@David-l in the trend of the software update announcement for vertical one of the moderators said to the end of the month the update was ready, after that,no news,so I think we are all in the same boat, only guessing 😅 I would like to see some of the bugs solved, but i do prefer wait more a couple of days and they release a software update stable than they rush to give us an update and come with new bugs.
