Hard to really keep track of the enormous amount of bugs that Suunto have introduced since the update. Not sure how much of these pre-release testing that I can trust anymore but nevertheless, some that are very clearly evident and have the watch use more confusing:

      • fitness (CTL and ATL) and recovery are all out of whack by a day
      • resources seem to be a joke. when sleeping with the watch, the resource recovery is far too quick to reach 100% which implies one will always wake up with 100% regardless of the hours one sleeps (provided the minimum is reached to achieve 100% recovery, which seems to be 3-odd hours)
      • daylight times are also out of whack by a day
      • battery has taken a turn for the worse. watch does not go to sleep anymore and the overnight use is now far too much even without SpO2. I am seeing about 6-8% every night relative to 2-3% before the update.
These are just the day-to-day stuff I notice to not care anymore. Would be good to know when a fix might be available.

        1. This is only affecting some users, mine is not out of whack and matches perfectly with the app using the firmware you are running. I believe this has been solved though.
        2. Mine seem ok as well here, this may be dependent on how minimum HR is set and there has been a lot of discussion but no resolution.
        3. Will see if this one is an issue for me, can you be more specific?
        4. Known by Suunto and do not know what the fix is. More than one field tester has reported that the display does not completely shut down when off the wrist. I do not know if this is the reason for increase in battery use or if it has something to do with the change in acquiring HRV readings, etc. So this may be a more complicated fix than simply the display but Suunto is aware of this.

Just because issues you note here are present in the update does not mean they were not detected in testing. The testers report the issues they have and it is Suunto’s decision on how do deal with the fixes. If some are complicated and will affect use of all watches running current firmware I can see how a fix might take longer for something that does affect the watch, i.e. daily battery life, but is not going to affect functions.

          @Brad_Olwin Thanks!

          1. Not sure what difference there may be between your watch and mine except the model but I am running the latest firmware and have soft-reset the watch multiple times to no avail.
          2. What I describe, I believe, has nothing to do with minimum HR since the resource regeneration curve seems too linear. The degredation too seems to be an issue fi a workout is imported from 3rd party. I guess it’s best to ignore this metric.
          3. Right now, in Helsinki at 17:00, I am getting a sunrise time of 3:13am, in 10hrs and 13 mins. Bonkers!
          4. Noted!
Kinda about-face in approach from yesteryears and while more proactive firmware progress has been made, this has introduced new issues. I do not distrust your statement but leaving known issues in software releases says a lot about care.

There are three watches running this current firmware, the 9PP does not have the RAM that the Vertical and Race have. I view this differently. Suunto could have left development of 9PP where it was as the watch was working fine. Except they chose to provide a rather massive update including HRV, TSS, CTL and all that the Race and Vertical have. Although this is my own opinion, I suspect this complicates the firmware and a fix for the 9PP could break the Race or Vertical for some issues. The internal and external testers from what I see do a very good job of identifying issues, the development team is then tasked with fixing them and I am sure given a priority list. I am not given that information. it cannot be easy and I can tell you from testing we often have unexpected reboots, or other significant issues. Frankly I am surprised Suunto update the 9PP and very happy they did.

Don’t know why Sunrise/Sunset is so off.

@Brad_Olwin Can you please clarify the issue with the display not completely shutting down?
I remember posting in https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9859/software-update-2-30-32/182 : “I noticed that if you go to Settings --> General --> Display and toggle OFF standby, the display stays always ON and the other way around, I had the setting toggled OFF and the display goes black after a few seconds of no movement.”
I haven’t changed anything since then and updated to 2.30.38.
Now it seems to work correctly: Settings --> General --> Display --> Standby is toggled ON, watch is left on the table and after 2 and a half minutes the display goes off completely. Though I remember it was rather seconds and not minutes before this happened.

I had already reported the issue as well but this morning I’ve noted that it works again and made a short video. Who knows why but I think the endless love I have for this toy is starting to pay off 😊
