S9PP to Vertical

@krakra I went from a S9P to a Vertical and can say for me, the screen is easier for me to read. I don’t know if it is the size or resolution but it just seems crisper.
The main driver for me to switch was the larger battery and maps but the side benefit is the “readability” with my old eyes. The overall size is larger but it fits under a shirt/coat sleeve just fine unlike my Baro 9 which sat taller.

I’ve had Peak 9, Peak 9 Pro and now Vertical. Vertical sits on my slim wirst much better, less moving. Screen is much better and easier to read. I use Always on Display on minimum brightness (turn off when go sleep with one button) my battery lasts 15-17 days usually. With that strong battery i dont mind to have AOD turned on.

Will got to store now and check it out. I think this would be easier to judge than looking people wrists on web, lol.
Would you guys say that price difference between S9PP to Vertical is worth it? I mean i am not sure how maps would be usefull for me. Dont see real benefit at the moment but it could be wrong since i never use it before on watch. I always plan route in advance and if something goes wrong i look at my phone anyway. I can understand battery life better GPS but that was never an issue for me on S9PP… but everything else is prettty much the same since they both share same UI. -
@krakra I would definitely suggest putting it on your wrist to see how it fits. Some people have said that the lugs dig into their wrists but I haven’t experienced it myself. That is one of the fitment that seems to be hit of miss for users and an area I would strongly suggest to check.
I have really liked the mapping on the screen as I can get a quick glance of where I am at and where I need to be. In the city, I tend to be aware of my surroundings (don’t like having my head down looking at my phone). While I am out biking it helps that I don’t need to stop and get my phone out of my pack so it has been quite useful in urban and rural environments for me.
The S9P, S9PP and Vertical charge fast which was a huge upgrade over the Baro 9. I would need to plan charging my watch (about 3 hours for the Baro 9) and any of the newer watches I could get it charged in an hour or so. GPS always was good with my 9 Peak but the Vertical seems to satellite lock quicker.
I will say loading the maps takes time so if you do decide to go with a Vertical and load maps, plan on that taking awhile (about 1 hour per GB of map size but don’t quote me on that!). I loaded 14GB of maps (about 17 states in the United States) and had to break it into several days to load.

@krakra There’s sometimes Vertical (non solar) on same price as PP9 on Amazon.

Tried vertical in store. It is not bad, bigger and harder to operate when shirt or hoody , jacket is on me and covering it with all that sleeves / as daily edc watch but def better than baro 9 i had in the past.
The biggest problem now is i also tried Race.
Now i am really screwed since i do not know which way to go , lol. -

@krakra I got thiny wrist (dont have measure close to me now so wont tell exactly) and You got here PP9 vs Vertical. First time i used Vertical I thought I gonna return it after 5 minutes, becouse too big. Now I dont mind if it would be even bigger. PP9 looks funny and so small in real life (probably becouse i get used to Vertical). Now You must wear both for a 2-3 days. If budget is not a problem, and You want better screen ++ Battery and maps, go Vertical !

Still struggling with my decision. It is s9pp again for me or vertical. I give s9pp to my daughter since she started to train triathlon. And now dad needs a new one. Again s9pp or vertical. The only issue i am having is the size / vertical being to big as daily watch.

@krakra I feel your pain… I was between the Vertical and the 9PP too. Having no need for maps, I went for the 9PP for its size. Being my first Suunto, coming from Garmin, I even wrote a light review here: Optimistic and to the point review of the 9PP.

I know we are all different but I find the Vertical an ideal size as an everyday watch.

Yes, but sleep tracking is much more comfortable for me with a S9PP …

Damn now I look on this photo Vertical seems really oversized here on my hand! But in real life/mirror its looks better than S9PP. I asked my brother which i live with, and he told me Vertical looks better. I also feel much better with Vertical. It sits better on my hand, its more comfortable, less moving on my hand and i use it 24/7 only taking it off for a shower. I sleep good with it, it doesnt bother me.

I think for me one of the big factors between the SV & SR would be whether you want Amoled or not?

Honstly I would say as my final words: What’s Your country policy? Can You order and return it after XX days? Wear It safety in home, check if it suits good on Your wrist. If Yes - order Vertical. Longer support, better than Suunto 9 Peak Pro (I had both). Much better on my hand, much better readable, much better battery, and great maps! I dont regret Vertical (I got refurb with discount on solar, probably becouse of one-day error discount (solar refurb in price of non-solar new) and i dont regret. Watch runs fine (could work more smooth a bit) but rest is great.

I think i will have to keep both , s9pp because i love the size and clean design , i love it as my edc / elegant watch and vertical for outdoor activities.
