Where / how do you wear your watch with alpine or backcountry skiing?

I have seen some people on the forum say they put the watch outside their glove or jacket for better accuracy, which makes sense. Is this not a bit annoying though when you have to change layers and transition frequently? Do you wear it over the glove or lower arm? I realize you need the longer strap.

For people who use their watch alpine skiing at the resort, does the watch work okay under your jacket or glove?

I have worn mine on my wrist as usual when ski touring (haven’t tried it yet at the resort). It worked well with my Traverse. Didn’t work well with the S7 (altimeter was way off). I now have a S9PP.

I was Snowboarding in February and the performance was fine on my wrist under the jacket/gloves.

@Greennorth polso sinistro sotto guanti e giacca! Funziona benissimo e ho anche la FC. Ho anche l’accortezza di bloccare i tasti perché mi è successo che con il movimento del polso, il guanto premesse i pulsanti dell’orologio mettendo involontariamente in pausa la registrazione.

This winter in various weather conditions, I’ve been wearing my SV under my clothes all the time (1st layer/overlay/jacket/big gloves sometimes). So did my wife with her S9PP.
We both have had standard performances : I mean, perfect performances !

@Greennorth Have always been wearing the watch (S9B, now S9P) under the jacket for alpine skiing, never any issues…

Also tend to wear the watch (S9P) under the jacket/clothing. It is also protected to not get affected by wind on those days. Very rare I might hang it from the backpack.

wearing my watch as always but when putting on the jacket I pull the sleeve behind the watch and strap so I can see it whenever I want.
depending on the gloves, the watch is between the jacket’s sleeve and glove or fully covered by the glove (hestra heli lobster).
never had any disadvantages with this 2 ways of wearing it

@Greennorth Backcountry always over the jacket! I need to see route into, elevation, ascent and descent. Just for fun I have max speed as a field!

Thank you all for the feedback! I will stick with the watch on my wrist under my glove cuff for now and see how it goes with the alpine skiing. I may experiment with over the jacket on a tour as well.

Hi. I have just tested my SR in alpine skiing and everything works well, except the CO2 value and the number of descents which do not correspond at all.
