Hello everyone. I’m interested in buying Suunto 9 Peak to replace my old faithful Garmin Forerunner 235, but have a question around the GPS. Is the GPS always on in some capacity, or can I turn it off to increase battery life? My only point of reference is my current Garmin Forerunner, where the GPS is off until I start an exercise, then the GPS turns off again once I finish my workout.
I would also like the heartbeat monitor to stay on most of the time, like it did in my Forerunner.
    Hopefully my question makes sense.
    Thanks for any advice.

@mjp2504 GPS is never on outside an activity. For activities you can select different modes to get the right balance between accuracy and battery life. You also have the option to turn GPS off duing an activity.

See also the “Battery power management” section of this page: https://www.suunto.com/en-nl/Support/Product-support/suunto_9_peak/suunto_9_peak/features/recording-an-exercise/

@surfboomerang awesome thanks. Can the HR monitor be left on outside of activities?
