@Egika Yep, and it does not connect. I did put my mobile phone to flymode just to be sure that it dont try to connect bike.
Bluetooth icon in bike seems to be visible when clock tries to connect but it fails every time. But at least i know now that i’m doing everything correctly.
FYI, my bike has Shimano EP8-motor and SC-EM800 screen.

@MikkoKartano I don’t have much to add to the instructions by @Egika and @kuba1234 . Connecting SuuntoPlus app to bike should work as long as bike is powered on, and there is no other Bluetooth connection (e.g. Shimano mobile app) to the bike. Setting bike to Bluetooth pairing mode should not be necessary, but you could also try that. I’m not sure if pairing mode exists in all Shimano devices, so you might not have it at all.
If bike shows Bluetooth icon, watch finds the bike, but Bluetooth connection fails for some reason.
If you can’t connect your watch to the bike, or if connecting requires multiple tries, you can send logs to Suunto from Suunto mobile app, and then send email of your Suunto account to me as a private message. We can then check your logs to see what is happening.

@Raimo-Järvi Hi! So my bike sometimes connects but in most cases I require multiple times to connect. The bluetooth icon appears, I wait for ~10 seconds and I have connection error. repeated it several times now and I couldn’t connect at all. I’ve sent you my logs (email: kuba1234@gmail.com). Thanks for your support, please let me know what is the issue.
Btw, I have one more question. If during workout I turn off bike (and the workout still goes) (eg. for battery charging or for pause) then after turning the bike on watch will reconnect automatically?
-
I tried to connect again yesterday, watch gave same error message and i did give up… However when i was starting activity, i noticed that watch was connected to bike and it worked.
This is great app as it shows also battery % which Shimano apps / screens dont… @Raimo-Järvi i sent new logs if you want to take a look of those.
-
@kuba1234 and @MikkoKartano Thank you for the logs. You both have a similar issue where watch connects to bike, but is then disconnected and connected again repeatedly. We made a small fix to the SuuntoPlus app, let me know if it works better now.
Watch should reconnect to bike or any other Bluetooth device after you turn it back on, or if you have been out of Bluetooth range.

@Raimo-Järvi Hello! Thanks for your help with new software version. After update my Vertical connects with no issues to the bike. However now no data is transferred to the watch. During my ride only speed was displayed all the time.
I tried then at home several times to reconnect and:
- 3-4 times there was only speed or completely no data
- one time there was all the data except speed
lack of speed is probably because weak or no GPS signal indoor.
I’ve uploaded my logs again.
Thank you very much for your great support!

I tried with my bike now with this May 14th release. Earlier, the watch couldn’t connect to the bike at all (although the BT icon appeared in bike’s display) but now I see the watch gets the connection for one second, loses it, connects again etc.
I need to debug this more tomorrow.
PS. I have E-Bike with Di2 electric shifting, how the both could be applied or could E-Bike also collect the gear information in the future?

Since yesterday I am the owner of a Suunto Race, installed new firmware and everything is set up.
After several attempts, the watch connected to the bike.
But the clock showed nothing except speed.
Everything back to factory settings and the whole thing again.
What I noticed was when I reconnected. The BT signal was briefly interrupted. So I tried the whole thing several times and in the end it worked -

Yep… Now it looks like watch and bike connects but watch shows only speed (witch propably is not coming from bike?) Maybe i will also take a fresh start for watch and reset it.
-
@MikkoKartano You’re right, speed is not coming from bike. Watch and bike connect initially, but then Bluetooth keeps disconnecting and therefore there’s no info shown in watch. I still don’t know what causes the disconnections, and resetting your watch may not help with it (but I can’t be sure).

I have still the same problem after all debugging. Where is exactly the option to send logs to Suunto? I tried to follow the instructions for Android but in Suunto 9 Peak view opened from the watch icon in the app, the menu gives only an option to show information about the watch.
Android app version is 29.4.2024 (Beta version).

Click user profile in top left corner, then Settings, and Send Logs to Suunto should be at the bottom

Thanks, now I found it. I tried to follow these instructions without success:
https://www.suunto.com/fi-fi/Tuki/faq-articles/suunto-app/diagnostiikkalokien-lahettaminen-suunto-appin-android-versiosta/I’ll replay the issue again in the evening and submit the logs for analysis. Thanks for your help!

@Raimo-Järvi I submitted now my logs. The start of my Gmail address is teemu.sirkia. Thanks for your assistance!

Hello E-Bike system developers. I tried to connect my Shimano EPS-8 Ebike with my Suunto 9 and ended up with the issue described earlier. The watch changes between connected and disconnected constantly like an permanent loop. After some second the screen goes back to the level where I choose my APPS. My Suunto is on the latest release V2.26.8. I sended my Diagnose Data using Suuntolink from my computer. Hope you find a solution. Regards Günter
-
I already made a post about my issue yesterday. I have the same issue on Suunto 9 that whatch says connects and disconnects for several time before connection closes. I found no way to install newer APP neither from APP Store for ebike APP nor the suunto APP itself or a later version than 2.26.8.
Any other suggestion how to resolve?
Regards

@Raimo-Järvi Maybe this information will be helpful:
- Before last update:
- there was issue to connect watch to bike, multiple restarts were necessary to do this
- after connection was stabilized all the data was shown on the screen.
- After last update:
- watch connects to bike instantly
- after connection no data is shown
Maybe last update corrected the connection issue and somehow damaged data transfer…?

Anche con ultimo aggiornamento di oggi, si connette dopo vari tentativi e, i dati spariscono dopo poche secondi

@ttsirkia Thank you for the logs! And apologies for the wrong instructions in our web site. I guess Suunto app user interface has been updated, but not the instructions. Did you have heart rate belt and/or other Bluetooth sensors connected to the watch when the problem occurred?
@kuba1234 Thank you, I think both issues are manifestations of the same problem (Shimano Bluetooth device is continuously disconnected and reconnected). Last update moved the problem to a later stage and maybe made things worse.
