@S-Pichi I am not sure what the requirements for the runs are. Short runs may be insufficient, it may require runs on multiple days. The VO2M works for me on this firmware. I would be a bit patient and see what happens. I would also take the VO2M values as estimates, the watch does not give me the same value I have from a lab test, the watch is always lower. I would not assume the watch can tell you your exact VO2M but can be better used to determine a trend of going up or down.

          @Darryl-Lin

          Hi Darryl,
mine showed the VO2max after the 3rd run (almost 55’, but it was a mix of walking/run, a la Galloway☺
I’m on the last firmware and after the run I got a message telling me the watch was calibrated for the run.
On the very first (long) walking I made after just bought the watch (a couple of months ago, with previous firmware) I also got the VO2max and I also got the message “watch calibrated for the walk”.
That’s my case, hope all will be right.

            Bonjour a tous,

              Hello,

I also have a Suunto Race, so far I have 7 runs most of them with Zone 4 & 5 as well.

Screenshot under CTL it still says "Have at least one Outdoor Run to get Results (tranlated from German).

Any news on an expected range of runs and what nature these runs should be?

(Two oddities: I have increased resting HR to 75 to see if it improves sleep tracking performance (Answer is not really) and I’m waring the watch on the right side. )

Hi, my race is exactly the same (no vo2 max and/or fitness age), bought the watch Feb 24 and run average 20 miles/wk. Suunto have been unable to resolve the issue, they even sent me a new watch but it still says ‘run at least one run ….’ Do you need to calibrate somehow? The support from Suunto is awful!

@andymsp73 Have you tried running with a HR belt? I don’t know if Suunto does count the run when HR readings are too unreliable.

@andymsp73 there is a bug on the Race that will be fixed in few weeks, at the moment you need to have a good run with external HR monitor

@isazi thanks for the reply, will the bug fix solve the VO2 readings then or will I need to purchase a external HR monitor as well?

@surfboomerang no I haven’t, assumed the watch would work without one, what type of HR do I need ? Thanks for the reply!

@andymsp73 it will fix the behavior of VO2max, so that it works also with OHR

@andymsp73 it should work with OHR (it does on my Vertical), but with previous algorithm it would skip runs with a bad HR reading. I don’t know if the new Suunto native algorithm does the same. And if this is causing your issue.
So if you can get your hands on a belt, you can try.

@surfboomerang thanks, the watch is advertised as providing VO2 and age fitness without the need to buy a HR monitor. Hopefully the new bug fix will sort this out but I’m not expecting it to. Appreciate the advice though 👍

@isazi Does problem was fixed? I don’t think so.

I ordered Sunnto Race few months ago. Ive walked, run and no vo2max. One week ago I’ve purchased Kalenji HRB 500 monitor, connected with Race, done few running, walking and still no vo2max.

Every testing runs and walks I did in 2 and 3 intensity zones. I used original Race programs, as it was adviced by Suunto customer care in other post, 2 and 3 zones more than 8 minutes, no pausing, excellent GPS conditions, as it was also adviced via Suunto customer care, and no effect.

When I use Suunto Vertical vo2max appears after first, 15 minutes run, 3 zone was only 2 percent.

Unfortunately, using Race i can feel China quality… 😔

@iwanczak I’ve had a lot of vo2 readings, so your hr zones may be off. Do the lactate threshold test, set your z4 boundary from that and see if it helps perhaps?

@Desdinova I have a correct hr zones, I input it manually. Lot of f people has a problem with vo2max on Race, write in Google phrase Vo2max Suunto Race and you will see results, not only on Suunto forum.

How I could make a lactate threshold test if CTL tile in watch inform me I need 3 more run to calculate
Lactate thresholdc (I’ve made a lot of runs).

                                        Today walking : 1,5 h, 2-3 zones, Kalenji Hrb500 sensor, no vo2max result ☹️

@iwanczak Normally a vo2 calculation is triggered by zones, so the zones are always a good place to start. I’d try editing your hr zones anyway, try just by changing them by 1 bpm, then doing the LT test anyway. At this stage you have nothing to lose by trying…

@Desdinova use the lt suuntoplus guide perhaps as that requires a 30 min power effort,
