Will the new tides watchface complication be an Ocean exclusive or with that be coming to other watches in the update? It looks very well designed!

@deserthike20 I do not have that, maybe it’s a future feature.

I’ve noticed in pics that the Ocean looks pretty big and thick on some wrists. Understandably the pics are usually over a wetsuit…

The specs show its actually thinner than the vertical and only 1 mm bigger. With a regular strap how does it fit in real life compared to the Vertical? Does it fit much larger?

I had the same issue and it was resolved by updating the Suunto app!

God dammit! Suunto makes soo good looking sport watches, and Ocean is even more good looking than the Vertical.

@isazi do you know if it has blood oxygen measurements as the Race, SV? I couldn’t find it on the web. Thanks.

Yes it does and I agree with @isazi that the watch is stunning.

@EzioAuditore Good to hear. I’ve done extensive exercise testing with the ocean and it matches with Race and Vertical well. I did find using a Velcro band for running gave much better OHR. I have not done dive testing.

@Brad_Olwin cool thanks a lot. I always use belt when running. OHR works fine for hike, bike and yoga/core/pilates.

@isazi Ordered mine since I’ll be spending quality time near sea this year but pool dive training too for more serious diving not only freestyle… One question: The led on the right side is showing what exactly? I couldn’t find anything in the manual or was reading it too fast and didn’t see it. Tank pod connectivity? Does it change colour? Thanks.

@EzioAuditore on my watch it is not a led, it is a, how do you call that, paint that you see in the dark? To find your watch in the darkness. This is what I know about that (I may be wrong, I never used the watch underwater).

My initial impressions after wearing this watch for two days and taking it for a swim:

                                        Pros:

                                        • The features I’ve tried out so far more or less meet expectations, but it’s too soon to tell especially since I haven’t taken it to depth yet.

                                        • The issue with lag with previous Suunto models appears to have been resolved. 👍

                                        • The watch is stylish (albeit chunky, I prefer something closer to the Race S’ size) enough to pass off as an everyday watch. The lack of style points has been my main complaint about many competing products (whether sports watches or those with dive computer functionality).

                                        • Sleep tracking (including naps) is spot-on in terms of timing. I don’t know about the sleep stages.

                                        Cons:

                                        • The touchscreen is a fingerprint magnet, which in turn causes glare in strong lighting conditions, more so than what I experienced with Fitbit and various smartphones. So, I bought an aftermarket screen protector hoping its oleophobic coating would mitigate this issue. It should be arriving in the mail soon.

                                        • Blood oxygen measurements can take some time, and are sometimes way off the mark compared to what my medically certified oximeter is reporting.

                                        • There is no “proper” way to migrate my data in bulk from a different fitness platform. So far, I have resigned to paying for the Health Sync app to import my past activity data from Fitbit to Suunto. Due to API limitations, this can only be done bit-by-bit and might take a week or so to complete; and only for activity data. Other data like 24/7 heart rate, HRV, sleep, etc cannot be transferred.

                                        • Freediving features cover the only bare basics. It lacks a surface interval alarm/notification, even though this is found on other Suunto dive computers.

                                        • The 60m depth limit is adequate for my needs, for now, as a beginner freediver but I can’t rule out the possibility of outgrowing it in the future. 🙃 Mentally, it’s a thought that bugged me when I was deciding whether to make the purchase.

                                        Bug report:

                                        • The 24/7 heart rate monitoring stopped and got stuck on “Measuring” during a nap. While the watch’s other functions continued to work, it stopped recording my heart rate during this period and consequently didn’t record my nap as well. A soft reset got heart rate monitoring working again; this only happened once so far out of two naps.

                                        • When I fall short of my sleep targets (which happens a lot), my morning sleep report states I am “-h:mm of target”. I believe the correct spelling would be “off target”.

                                        Feature requests:

                                        • A surface interval alarm for freediving: There should be options to either set a specified time in minutes and seconds, or to calculate and vary it based on time and depth of the last dive. So far, the Atmos Mission 2 has the best thought-out freediving features on the market that even include pool disciplines, so I hope Suunto finds some “inspiration” from there beyond just surface interval notifications.

                                        • A red light mode for the screen and flashlight: Stargazing and astrophotography are some of the main things that can get me outdoors, but the screen can be too bright for a dark-adapted eye even when brightness is set to its lowest setting. Once disrupted, it could take up to 30 minutes to regain dark adaption. Turning everything on the screen into dim shades of red could mitigate this.

Software version is 2.34.42, which appears to be the latest at the time of writing. Thank you.

@kohjl if you are using Healthfit, try RunGap as It can transfer specific date ranges so will import in bulk. Both iOS.

@Brad_Olwin Thanks, but I’m an Android user, and I don’t think even RunGap can get around Fitbit’s API limitations.
