And titanium case has been talked about in a lot of reviews
In the same link : The titanium case version of Race S will be added in Q3.2024Q3 starts in 5 days
-
@Stoke80 Yes but it lasts 3 months
-
@Egika I don’t try to win but as a consumer I want to know what are my options

From the above shown picture of the Titanium Version, it seems that the finish is a bit darker than the one from Race and Vertical?
Would be nice (for me personally), because I think the current Titanium Version is too bright.
I prefer darker watches. -
@Luis-Andés-Olmedo same review but on his site:

@duffman19 correct, press middle forward, long press middle backwards.
So how do we access the activity options menu now that a long press of the middle button cycles backwards? I know, I know. Wait a (few) day(s) and all my questions will be answered.
-
@duffman19 long press bottom button
-
@isazi and so on to the lock shortcut…
-
-
@duffman19 you’ll find lock in that same menu

Awesome watch well done Suunto ! I have the 9PeakPro Titanium and I really envoy the compactness, lightness and comfort of this watch. Especially withe teh microfiber wristband.
One suggestion to increase sales on the suunto website: sell the watch and band separately so we chose the one band we actually want. Maybe do it with the titan version so it become more “personal”.
At present I will have to pay additional 60€ for the microfiber band I love wich is heafty priced … while I will not use the default one !
Because of that I am all reluctant to buy the titanium version that is expected to be 100€ more expensive, for a 7g saving. Really no Saphire at that +100€ pricepoint ?
This is diapointing compared to the S9PP titan version that was “only” 50€ more. -

Actually you can (not sure about the new race s) customize your watch
-
@sartoric Yes from what I see it is possible for the vertical with only +10€ for teh microfiber that is super cool !
BUT not the Race nor the RaceS … that is too bad…
2 weeks and no return is the "price " to pay for that custom so maybe it is not a crazy success…
BTW +100€ for titan is excessive but +100 for solar is nut to me ! I guess they managed to sell some unit … some rich people buying ego boost… (or just trying to lighten their wrist ?)
Among review the “Glass VS saphir” battle came up, di you guys have experience scratching glass badly ? I have allways got saphire on my watch so this
glass hinders me… -

Solar gives you +20 hours of battery

@LoïcMichel Titanium is also hypoallergenic which is a benefit to some.
From manufacturing it is not as easy to machine titanium compared to steel, so the cost to make goes up. Putting photovoltaic in a watch takes care and specific circuitry to prevent battery overloading, so the cost goes up… the sum of each of these will cause the price of manufacturing to go up.
I would not consider myself rich nor ego driven but I can certainly justify the additional cost for including titanium and solar on a watch based on my above statements.

@isazi whoa tahnks that is substantial indeed ! I guess this gets theautonomy crazy long.
The fact is that I do ultra of several days in harsh mountain without mush electric plugs so I am right in the target market for such function. However, in those “adventures” I carry a battery for safety and reload my phone while eating/sleeping so I don’t mind charging my S9PP. I don’t get why people refuse to reload during multidays outings, sure they sleep !
What I would like today is a lighter shorter charging cable and maybe better battery alert/tuning while on the run.Another fact is that I started with the ambit3 so I guess I got used to reloading in the bush. After enjoying the comfort of S9PP and its “good enough” autonomy I have grown critical of super beefy & pricy watches in the sake of holy autonomy. Today I see these as an “old constraint we overcome and I don’t regret”.
(Plus I love bashing luxury simply because other people starve.)Why not putting these solar cells on amoled and smaller watches that would benefit more from an autonomy boost ? Is there such a size challenge ? Maybe competitors did it ?

Never doubt it is more expensive but my criticism is about the amplitude of the uprice: 100€ . I can buy heavier titanium cookware very well finished and manufactured in decent paying countries for so much less.
Reading you I better understand the trickyness for the manufacturing to add these solar cells hence a labor uprice.
In the end these “overpriced segment” subsidize the lower price offer as their higher margin contribute more to the manufacturer’s benefit.
To you the saphir case is similar ? I guess it is just the same on assembly line and we can buy saphir watches for less than 50 so the saphir production cost is not so big.
I have read that saphir synthesis is highly crabon emitting due to energy, I wonder how it impacts the Carbon footprint of wtaches. Would be curious to know more of the contributions to the watch footprint, maybe materials mater more than the electronics in it ?
