Form Smart Goggles Integration
-
Here’s what I’d like: integration between the Form goggles, and my Suunto, for OWS.
What are the goggles?
The goggles are essentially Engo for the water: the wearer can see sports-specific information floating over one eye. Version two has a built-in HR sensor. They’re game-changing for swimming, much more so than the Engo product, in much the same way some people found Stryd to be for running. What would the S+ app do?
The same as the Garmin and AW integration:- During the swim: share speed/pace/distance information with the goggles, over Bluetooth, so the wearer can see them while swimming. HR information if on v1 of the goggles (no native HR in v1).
- After the swim: share the .fit file via API with Form. v1 goggles would use HR from the watch, either a chest strap or the wrist (please no), v2 would use the goggle’s HR recorded from the temple.
Bonus Features
This isn’t available for Garmin or the AW, but a pool mode where the watch functions as a secondary display to the goggles, eg showing upcoming sets. It would provide a way for Suunto/Form users (am I the only one…?) to use their modern Suunto for productive swimming pool training.Details about the goggles: http://formswim.com
I’ve chatted with Form about it, I think they knew Suunto existed before I messaged them, but hard to tell…
