I just noticed the following in the docs for the Race S:

You need to have a power pod paired with your watch to be able to use power zones when exercising

I always run with a Stryd pod because my previous activity tracking devices (phone and then 5 Peak) didn’t have native power support but does this mean even though the Race S does have native power support I can’t use power based intensity zone alerts if I don’t keep using the Stryd?

@far-blue need to retest this, it might have been fixed in SW updates but not sure.

Either ready, if not fixed yet, the need to pair power pod to have intensity zones is just a one time pairing.

@herlas I’m not sure I understand. So at the moment due to a bug you have to use an external power foot pod at least once with an activity profile before you can then use power zones but in future this will be fixed and you won’t need to?

So if my Stryd was to die and I just used the watch built-in power features because I’ve previously used Stryd all should be happy and I will be able to use power zones?

But currently if I created a new activity profile I wouldn’t be able to use power zones until I’ve used that profile at least once with a Stryd pod?

@far-blue said in power zones clarification:

This is not correct, it works just fine with the watch power.

@Brad_Olwin ok, cool 🙂 Possibly something to highlight with the document writing team at Suunto then? As that sentence exists in both the online and the pdf versions of the manual for the Race S 🙂

@far-blue I will let them know. Can’t remember when this was fixed but quite awhile ago.

@Brad_Olwin if you never paired a power pod to your watch that means it got fixed 🙂 but it was the case before, so I guess that’s why it’s still in the documentation.

@far-blue no need to address your question above as all is working now as it should 👍

@Brad_Olwin Dear Brad! Where can I find this screen in my Race S watch? I try to determine power zones for running but I don’t see app or screen which shows running power. I have found only FTP Test app for bicycle but also showed me nothing during bicycle ride.
I run almost every day and application indicates TSS by § - and my power findings from chart are not correct. And today after 14km long run in 2 zone Sunto app clasified it as anaerobic what is not true.
Maybe I am missing something but power zones are my problem now. Please let me know, how solve it.
