Love my Suunto 9 Peak, but one thing is driving me crazy. Riding on my trainer indoors, the wrist HR is always wrong. it starts off, always, around 165-170, elevates into the 200s, then after 45 minutes or so drops below correct HR (I’m testing things by wearing a chest monitor linked to my phone that’s running a training app). I’ve tried it with the “indoor” bike mode and the “gravel” mode. Same thing. I unclicking the chest strap monitor in settings, turning on wrist HR. Does anyone know the secret handshake?

@revcp The secret handshake is to wear a HRM 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Audaxjoe Doesn’t make sense. When I ride outdoors, when I walk, when I lift, when I sleep, the HR is spot on. Why the difference when I’m on a bike indoors?

The very first thing before the start of the workout is to allow the sensor to determine the initial readings in a calm and relaxed state of the hand.
The watch must be 2 cm or more above the carpal bone.
Not overtightened and not too loose, the green light from the sensor should not be visible from the side.
The sensor must be clean, the hand must be dry.

@revcp it does seem strange, I saw someone else say similar about weight training.

I guess being old school I always think for any activity if HR is important to you, use a HR monitor. But the built in HR has greatly improved in most situations for many people I guess.

To answer your question, I haven’t got a clue! I guess inside it will not be a jacket or similar. Something that causes static build up.

@Leonid-Yasyukevich all observed, still an issue.

And what if you try to create a custom indoor bike mode for comparison?

@Leonid-Yasyukevich good idea. I’ll try that. Thanks.
