Yesterday, I completed a 27 km trail through the Amazonian rainforest of French Guiana. The route was physically demanding — deep mud from start to finish, numerous swamp and creek crossings, and a heavy tropical downpour halfway through. At one point, I became disoriented beneath the dense canopy, surrounded by towering trees and thick vegetation. The moment was intense — completely alone, with the echoes of rain and the living forest amplifying the sense of isolation.
In such an environment, most mobile devices struggle to maintain a reliable GPS signal. My Suunto Vertical, however, performed flawlessly. Despite the harsh conditions, it maintained a strong and accurate signal throughout. Even in the most remote and waterlogged sections of the trail, it allowed me to retrace my steps and return to the correct path with confidence.
That experience was a clear reminder of how essential dependable equipment is when moving through remote terrain. The Vertical wasn’t just a device — it became a steady and reassuring presence in a moment of uncertainty. Reliable, precise, and built for the wild.
