Hello. I was thinking about buying Chest strap to pair with my SV. I got two questsions.

      1. If i pair stap with my watch I want to measure my HR out of activity from watch, and from strap when doing activity. Do I need to set it every time, or that how its works? Every time I start running/cycling I need to set which device if should use to measure? Or I do it only one time, and after cycling for example, and finish activity, it automatically switch to my watch HR, than again next day I go cycling, it will automatically switch to chest strap when I start activity?

      2. Which one do You recommend? I was thinking about SUUNTO SMART HEART RATE BELT and Polar H10 chest strap. Price is basically the same. Or maybe You know any better?

      Thanks!

@Tami999 once the HRM is paired to the watch it will pick up for each activity - as long as you are using the same HRM. You can only pair one. As far as device recommendations - as long as it is Bluetooth and if you want to sue ZoneSense it has to measure R-R intervals.

The only advantage the Suunto belt has is its memory. So you can use it while swimming…

Thanks, I searched some more info and ordered Suunto :). Seems like it also got a bit bigger battery than Polar.

@Tami999 I don’t have any comparison with other’s brand but I’m using Suunto chest belt and so far no problems. Instant connectivity, direct HR reading, comfortable belt that doesn’t slip on the body (at least in my case).

Hello everyone! Based on your experience, can you tell me if it is acceptable to leave the Suunto heart rate sensor connected to the belt when not in use? Will the battery run out? As far as I remember, I left the Polar H10 sensor connected to the belt, the battery ran out quickly. The Suunto sensor is very difficult to disconnect from the belt and I am afraid to damage the contacts by constantly connecting/disconnecting.

@Sergei-Ladeishchikov In my case, it’s pretty simple: when I go to train, I put on the HR strap, when I’m done, I put it away, wash it, and forget about it. IMHO If it’s idle, it goes to sleep, so there’s no need to turn the device on or off every time.

form an electrical point of view, it seems to me that the belt just acts as an extension of the contact pins of the sensor, that is the pads you have to wet, if the belt isn’t in use the sensor shouldn’t drain more current

theoretically yes, but the discharge was present for several days in my previous H10, I had to attach and detach the sensor to the belt every training. I checked the detection of the Suunto belt when not in use, through the watch and SA, the belt was not found))

it is only detected when the skin closes the electrical circuit

So far Iam happy. HR seems very stable now, without huge drops. With same activity I had 140-150. Before 130-150 with drops to 60 or 40. I thought Iam dying 😄
. Does anyone know if its good to use CR2032 battery instead of 2050? I got a few brand new.

@Sergei-Ladeishchikov You do not need to disconnect the sensor. I never do.

@Brad_Olwin I thought so) but I have problems with the heart rate, sometimes there is no data from the belt for 20 seconds or 1 minute. My belt is new, about 1 or 2 weeks. Almost every long workout I notice the lack of data, usually I am already warmed up enough and the belt is wet. SA showed the pulse at this moment as a straight line, but in Humango and Intervals zero readings are visible. Before the Suunto belt I used Polar H10, I had this problem with it, but the belt was quite old and the pulse sometimes just hung, but did not disappear. Does anyone have such behavior of the belt or is my belt or sensor faulty?
                              I use SV.

@Sergei-Ladeishchikov Maybe the battery is old, the belt should show HR immediately if wet. Mine does. I assume you have replaced the battery. What color is the material between the contacts on the belt, it should be grey not black. This is on the front side between the contacts that the sensor attaches to.

@Brad_Olwin The battery is new, shows 100%. The contact pad is gray. The data is interrupted not at the beginning, but during the activity. Since this happened with the old H10, and now with the new Suunto, could the problem be in something else? For example, in the connection between the sensor and the watch?
A recent example is below, 45-46 minutes.

Today’s activity also had a couple of gaps 2 hours after the start of the activity.

This could be due to the strap getting dry and/or a tech shirt that may cause static. The first graph is HR, correct? I see where data are missing. I have had the same occur to me when on a SkiMo outing caused by either the belt not completely contacting the skin and dry, cold weather where the belt is not wet and I am not sweating enough. You might try a gel on the belt, it looks to me like the connection between you and the belt is an issue.
