Freezing during activities
-
Bought a Suunto Race approximately 2 months ago and unfortunately yesterday, for the second time, my watch froze during the middle of an activity and then rebooted.
The first time it happened I was in the middle of a trail race (bad timing). About 8km in on a trail run (using a saved GPX file) my watch completely froze and was unresponsive. The top quarter of the screen was black and I could see the rest of the activity but it was all frozen. The watch then restarted by itself. I then restarted the activity and for the next 14 km there was no issue…
Yesterday, I was connected to my external HR monitor and was in ‘weight training’ mode when the same thing happened. This time I didn’t actually see it freeze, but when i looked at my watch it was no longer in the activity and it was clear that it had restarted.
Interestingly, both times the touch screen wasn’t working after and I had to perform a soft reset to get it working.
Has anyone experienced this? It’s super disappointing as I feel like every time I record my activity i’m scared that it’s going to stop working. Any advice is welcome, i’m considering a hard reset but I might just have to send it in for diagnostics as these are anomalies that haven’t been experienced by friends with the same watch.
My watch was and is on the latest firmware.

@dommywalsh This has been bought up several times in the forum in recent months but I haven’t seen a fix suggested anywhere unfortunately.
Thankfully for me my Race has been faultless in over 18 months of use but if I was in your situation I would be giving it the hard reset for sure.
