@Kevin-Major 😳 That would be very sad and disappointing. Never touch a Running System? Sounds like "Sorry we can’t get an update because the stability could suffer… Good that other companies see more confidence in their development…

@Elipsus Interesting setting for a watch based on software. I mean we’re not talking about an analogue clock here. I’m afraid with this philosophy Suunto will have a hard time considering the competitors…

The Ocean is built on the same platform as the Vertical, Race and Race S so I’m pretty confident any delays to getting out updates are nothing to do with the hardware and nothing to do with the operating system. This would, in my opinion, really only leave 1 sensible reason for the delay and that would be around additional regulatory or safety evaluation requirements that aren’t needed for the other watches using the same platform.

I mean, if Suunto have the updates released for other watches they aren’t reasonably going to say “nah, let’s not bother with the Ocean, let’s piss off a bunch of customers for no reason” 🙂

@Kevin-Major there are actually plans to release an update soon, as @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos said. A release candidate is being tested as far as I know. It is not the 2.44.46 update though, it is a different one.

            Watch: Suunto Vertical Ti

@Sascha-Domres I’m just sick and tired of people asking for updates.
updates are NOT always a good thing, and Suunto (and their competition) proved me right times and times again.
I won’t say that I don’t enjoy the new shiny stuff, but i want a watch that “works” realiably and does what i bought it for, when i bought it.
And too many times i got a watch that “stopped” doing what i bought it (for example, measuring HR) because of a botched update.

I agree with you on that. But standing still while others move forward is actually a step backwards. It’s up to you whether you want to install the new update or not. Obviously, there are two – maybe three – groups here: some want the update, others don’t, and for the last group it doesn’t really matter.

@tinten.addi I would say it very slightly differently :

                  • people who don’t now there are updates or won’t even notice
                  • people who buy a watch for what it gives at the moment, but don’t wait for updates especially (but are happy when they come) - I sit here
                  • people who focus on what is missing (imho will always be disappointed)

                  Suunto’s devices at home :

                  Suunto Wing

@Sascha-Domres I asked for you and we want to release an update in the next 1 months max. Hope this will stand. No promise about the timeframe.

@Elipsus And that’s exactly why I expect updates. I find it to vomit to buy a great advertised product and then to have black Maps/cards, grids, freezing etc. I can hope for “quick” solutions. The big difference is that I have the feeling of being a beta tester… if I want to have beta then I sign up for something like that…

If I could suggest something to perhaps make the start of a dive with the Suunto Ocean safer.
At present the Switch window shows “Temperature” when entering the water. That is a nice to know.
However, I suggest the default first view be “Battery Percentage” (currently 4th in the cycle). Then after a single press the switch window should display “Tank Pressure” (currently 5th in the cycle) when a Pod is connected.

@Brad_Olwin yep. I should have wrote that « I’m not angry if updates are note coming but the first to install them when they come and very happy ! »
