Phantom vibrations
-
@sky-runner I had this happen and no reason why. Soft reboot and was gone. If it happens again I will file a bug.
-
@Squirrel Yes, I think it is quite possible that vibrations were triggered by the BT sensor. Today it vibrated when I walked towards my desk at work or away from it. At my desk there was a backpack with Coros HR sensor inside. This happened within an hour of me finishing a run, but didn’t happen later in the day.
-
@sky-runner It happens when the watch detects a previously synced BT device (that’s the reason it happens after your run, the armband is still powered on and the watch detects it). When the armband is powered off the vibration dissapears. It seems that BT discovery process is still running in backplane (and also draining battery, another posted bug).
-
@jjpaz That was not the case for my experience AFAIK. I have HR belts that are inactive unless on the body.
-
@Brad_Olwin in my case it was Coros HR armband.
I think another source for phantom vibrations is notification about upcoming climbs or descents. Many times vibrations happened right before a climb or descent but I didn’t see the actual notification. Perhaps the disappears very quickly because it comes up too late.

Yes, my impression is that the battery was used more quickly recently, perhaps even surprisingly quickly.
-
Thanks for this thread. I had same situation few times and I thought it just my mind cheating me
-
@sky-runner from memory before a proper red ascent/green descent, there is a vibration 50m beforehand. If you’re on the climb screen at the time, it shows the distance counting down at the top, but if not, it just vibrates.

That might be one of the reasons. Personally I think the watch should never vibrate without having a visual notification at the same time. That is just confusing!

I had this too, and it went away with a restart.
My suspicion is that it has something to do with offline map updates.I got the “map update” screen while starting charging yesterday with no update ongoing (AFAIK).
After the firmware install, I kept getting that notification every time I was checking the map. Gone after the restart.Hope it won’t bother me this we in Berlin
-
Also seeing this mainly in a workout or walk. I think it’s giving HR zone notifications even if you’ve set it to “no target”. This wasn’t happening until last update on both my Race S and new Race 2.
-
Hello, I noticed the same on my watch. I think it happens when I grab a HR strap and it looks like it connects to the watch.
-
Yes my watch is vibrating and beeping continuously today. Also did it a few days ago. I think it started after I repaired my Stryd. I have to switch to airplane mode to stop it. The beeping happens with no activity mode selected. My HR monitor is off. Any suggestions? Super annoying. Really do not like the changes to device pairing with latest update.
-
@sky-runner I have not had the chance to test this, but I am wondering if this is because BT is always in discovery mode now. I also had weird vibrations with the update on my Race S. (That coupled with disconnecting HRM during activities)
I have since turned off the BT discovery and hoping that the random vibes will go away.
This would also explain why HRMs would randomly not work if there was more than one HRM active during an activity. Just speculation, but will try.

@Stavrogin How did you turn off Bluetooth discovery?

Look under Settings > Connectivity
-
@Squirrel Thank you! I did it and can still sync to the app and connect my HR belt. So what is this settings meaning?
-
@VoiGAS this enables that other devices which are not paired to your watch yet can see your watch as an available Bluetooth device. If you turn it off, your already paired devices will work normally, but nobody will be able to see your watch as an available BT connection.

@OutdoorMan Good to know, thank you! Should then be off by Default in my opinion…
