@surfboomerang If you turn everything off and use it like a Casio watch from the 1990s, it’s no wonder that the battery drain problem doesn’t occur 🙂

@maszop and Casios have 10 years battery life (with probably a smaller battery)

                Casios had no GPS 🙂

I do have exactly the same settings as @surfboomerang. Well, in fact no… my notifications are OFF 😛

I’ve also tried unpairing all Bluetooth devices and changing the watch face, but the result is the same… I can see there are now reports about the Vertical 2 as well, so I really hope they’re working on a solution.

Shall we give up on the reports in this thread? Should we wait for the December update and hope they’ve figured out what’s causing the problem?

@fedequei I don’t know but I gave up, in general. I put the Race 2 up on sale - and nobody wants it.

I am having the same problem since this update. I also reported watch charging issue. All we can do it to leave with it + wait for the next update.

Really hope that the next release will not be too long to receive. I am charging my watch every 5days now + checking every 5min if the watch is currently charging.
                        Super annoying at this time…

Before the update my battery cycle was 15-17 days (Vertical 1). After the update it dropped to 8-10 days. Then I did hard reset and the cycle is back on 16-18 days.
I’m guessing it has something to do with the new sensor management.
After the update, every time I switched on the Polar Verity Sense it connected to the watch instantly.
After the hard reset it connects only when I select any sport activity.

After monitoring battery consumption for 11 days, I can say that either my perception (of increased consumption) was mistaken, or that the soft reset and unpairing and re-pairing of my external HR monitor solved any potential problem.
                              Battery consumption remains excellent.

After un restart battery consumption is good. But for me, probably after one or several workouts (with arm sensor) something trigs a high battery consumption with more than 10% a day. I have not identified what is exactly this trigger

                                  Hello,

I have also noticed an overall decrease in the battery life of my Vertical since a few updates (more or less since June 2025). Battery consumption used to be around 10/12% per day without GPS activity (7% during the day and 4/5% at night). However, for the past few days, I have been manually closing the Suunto app in the background and… magic… battery consumption has been halved. Now I’m between 5/7% per day with 1 hour of GPS per day in performance mode, 24/7 HR tracking and sleep tracking. This still doesn’t match Suunto’s estimates (i.e. 30 days of battery life), but it significantly improves my watch’s battery life.

So there may be an additional bug, but remembering to close the app manually is a good idea.

I have a Suunto Vertical Solar Titanium made in China and an iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 26.

@GuillaumeA What do you mean by disabling an app in the background? I also have an iPhone, but I wouldn’t know how to do that apart from the usual swipe up

@fedequei Sorry, English isn’t my native language: I may not have been clear.

That’s exactly right, it’s the swipe up from the control bar at the bottom of the home screen. You’ll see that your watch no longer syncs automatically, so the weather widget may no longer be up to date, and activities no longer sync automatically at the end of the activity, but doing it once a day is enough.

My routine has become: I get up in the morning, synchronise the watch for the weather widget and sleep tracking, then manually close the app. Then, if I’ve been running or doing an activity, I synchronise again.

Basically, I’ve gone from multiple automatic synchronisations per day to two manual synchronisations. This obviously has an impact on the battery.
