Difference in average depth reported by watch and app

I have noticed that there is a significant difference between the average depth reported by the watch and the app. The difference is mostly more than 10% where the watch generally report the higher average depth.
The highest difference was recorded on an trainings dive where my average depth reported by the watch is 5m while the app reports 3m that’s almost double.
I would like to know where the difference originates especially for calculating my AMV (not using a tank pod) the right average depth is important. -
Very interesting discovery. I hadn’t noticed it before, but it’s really true.
I analysed one of my dives.
Effective dive time (underwater) 76 minutes.
Average depth on the Ocean: 11.9 metres
Average depth in the app: 11.5 metres. I analysed the FIT file of a dive and found that the Ocean takes the effective average of the dive. The app calculates the average including the surface time of 2 minutes. This means that every 10 seconds a ‘depth’ of 0.00 metres is added. Depending on the duration of the dive, this has a greater or lesser influence on the difference in average depth.
I hope I have explained this clearly.
However, Suunto should ensure that the same value is used on both the Ocean and in the app, which in my opinion should be the one from the Ocean. -

Thanks yeah that make sens to me. Especially with my 5 minute surface interval before the dive is ended the deviation gets even bigger.
I would also love suunto to fix this in their app. Especially that the dive time and all other stats are the same.
