SpO₂ – Sleep-Only Measurement on Vertical 2
-
Hi everyone,
On my Suunto Vertical 2, I tried to measure SpO₂ manually, but it didn’t work at all. I later realized that measurements are only active during sleep. To confirm, I spoke with three different Suunto specialists, and unfortunately, all three confirmed that manual measurements via the widget are now restricted. I find this very confusing and frustrating.
Details:
The Vertical 2 sensors are technically capable of manual measurement, but the software and algorithms are optimized to provide reliable data only during sleep.
The watch still shows a “Measure now” widget, which can mislead users into thinking the feature is broken.
Marketing and documentation do not clearly state that SpO₂ is sleep-only.
I would suggest the following options:
Re-enable limited manual SpO₂ measurement,
Remove the widget and restrict SpO₂ to sleep reports only,
Clearly label all UI and documentation as “SpO₂ – sleep only.”
I’m sharing this so that other users can understand the situation correctly and avoid unnecessary frustration. Many Vertical 2 users are professional athletes or technically knowledgeable, making this transparency particularly important.
Thanks.
