heart rate alarm?
-
Hello - first of all: what an awesome forum, I had a few issues with my (finally, happily, long desired) newly obtained vertical 1 and found plenty of solutions and hints here (battery drain amongst others, the 60 second reset solved the issue!
)So it works perfectly now, except for one single feature I am missing which is a heart rate alarm (at least during training). I might have overlooked it, or there is a work around with an app extension I haven’t discovered yet. Is anybody here having knowledge/thoughts/ideas on how to set one?
For medical reasons I should not exceed a certain heart rate. I would appreciate very much if the vertical could give me a gentle vibration if I do, so I don’t need to check it all the time during training. The cheap watch I used used before can do almost nothing but such an alarm, so now I use both sometimes which is a bit ridiculous LOL

@Kalb_Willi you can’t get a ping when you cross HR zone boundaries, but this is at best a workaround. I asked for this some 5 years ago

@MdzOtt oh my… Okay thanks a lot, so I guess I can stop looking for technical solutions if you’ve done so for the past 5 years. It should not be difficult for Suunto programmers to add such a (common?) feature though, right?
I experimented with the heart rate zones already, hoping the watch would alarm me if i exceeded the chosen maximum. So yeah, I’m using them already to keep easier track but still I constantly need to watch the watch which is not what I desire to do.

@Kalb_Willi do you mean alarm during exercise? Theoretically you could set a target zone during a workout. Not sure if this is what you are looking for.
-
@OutdoorMan awesome - Well, whatever it takes for the watch to ping/buzz everytime I exceed a certain heart rate

Where/how can I set a target zone? I must have overlooked it.

@Kalb_Willi After you select an exercise, scroll down to Exercise Options/Intensity Zones/Target.
If you are using an HR belt (not optical) you will have HR/Pace/Power/ZoneSense for Intensity Zones and targets. If no belt then ZoneSense will not work. You can select a target zone for one intensity zone. The watch will buzz/alarm when you go above/below the zone and when you return.
As an alternative, you can set up a custom interval workout in the app. It can be only one interval or multiple. You can set multiple HR/Power/Pace targets for warm up, intervals, cool down. The watch will buzz when you are out of zone. -
@OutdoorMan this would be a workaround, but not a real solution. I would like to see an alarm that sounds a sound and vibrates to draw your attention to the fact that you reached (or exceeded) a target HR. I know that some of us want to reach a certain target zone when exercising, but some (other) of us need to watch the max HR (I don’t want to have a cardiac arrest when I am climbing ambitiously a hill on my bike
).Btw. it is available on many bike computers. On my Garmin Edge, the alarm will sound, but it is hardly noticeable (and the text does not even change colour). I am afraid that it is designed as an alert for reaching a target zone (as opposed to a real “ALARM” (“slow down or you will die” type).
