Feature Request: Crop Activity Before Saving
-
@Ecki-D. nut 100% sure, but if it has the moving-during-pause-alarm, it should have this one too.
-
@Ecki-D. Yes this feature is on the 9PP, the alarm when starting to move while paused.
-
A also often forget to stop activity after finish. Very good idea to have function like this on the watch to cut before sync.
-
@Dimitar-Dulev Make it a part of the mobile app too.
-
@Egika Aha! So that’s the reason. I’ve been a bit surprised by the beep/vibration when walking from point of activity pre-start to the actual place where starting. Mostly I’ve associated it with loaded Structured Workouts from a provider who insists on extremely slow warm-ups - thinking I walked too fast. But this has been confusing since the activity really hasn’t been started for real…

@Egika said in Feature Request: Crop Activity Before Saving:
If you sync to many external services, then you will have to edit all separately. If it is possible on the watch, it will be synced for all in the same way.
I understand your point, but I guess that it would be way easier to implement such a feature on the SA, where it would be also easier to be handled because of a bigger screen. Moreover, for a precise trimming it would need the ability to zoom into the graph to find the right point where to start the crop, especially for long activity. I doubt that this could be easily coded into the watch firmware.

Maybe you’re right about the ease of development on the mobile app.
But in order for external apps like Strava to work properly we would need manual sync with them. Maybe something like:
- Add a Manual partner sync toggle button in Profile → Partner services
- Add a Sync to partner services button in the Home page for when it’s disabled.
Otherwise you’ll still have the bad statistics.

-
@Dimitar-Dulev Or on the watch you could choose an option like “Save but don’t sync with 3rd parties” and then trim and share it later, after post-editing in the app.
-
@Brad_Olwin tried it out yesterday but nothing happend so far.
Will check later again, would really be helpful. -
@cheetah694 Yep, that sounds like better UX for 90% of the activities.
- An “End without partner sync” button in the watch that marks the activity to not be automatically synced.
- A new crop screen in the app.
- A manual “Sync to partner services” button in these activities.
This sounds like the simplest/cleanest solution technically, I’m interested what Suunto devs think.
Btw I also saw that Garmin Connect’s mobile trim feature only has a time select which would be more than enough for resolving the issue.
