@Ze-Stuart nice article, couple of bits to add to it:

usage is counter-intuitive: if you have your Stryd pod paired to the watch, you have to un-pair it as a foot pod, so that the S+ app can connect to it —> no need to un-pair from watch, just disable foot pod from pre workout screen and that’s it.

for the not so good section, in case you want to add, it’s not a big deal, but there’s a long standing issue with Suunto-Stryd only, runs will get shorten from 7 to 10 secs on the first lap once synced to Stryd.

Suunto watches do not record power into FIT file during those initial seconds and Stryd doesn’t show you on their platform any time without a watt associated. Long history short, neither Suunto or Stryd want to fix this, I have tried and more than once 🙂

@Ze-Stuart thank you, I tried the s+ app today as a trial and i did a manual sync int eh Stryd app - I ended my with duplicates - is this normal and I just delete the one with the least data in it ?

Also is I don’t use the S+ app and I do the same, save and sync run in Suunto app and then do a manual sync in Stryd - will I end up with duplicates ?

              Cheers

@herlas Is this solved yet? I just paired my Stryd to the Race 2, didn’t do a run but testing in out while walking around in the house. Seems the data is coming correctly from the Stryd (because the Suunto is on the table). I can’t pair as a foot pod as that doesn’t shows up. I also don’t use the Stryd+ app but have a data field with 3sec power.

@Steven-Vanlancker with Race 2 and other models that received lasted firmware, Stryd can only be pair as footpod, which means you’ll get data from the Stryd in most conditions, it’s said that in future update, you’ll be able to select what data to receive from the Stryd pod.

                    Hey all stryd users.

Can you tell me the correct procedure to use stryd with Vertical after recent update ?

It’s a bit weird how it is actually on my settings.

When using run mode, stryd is paired as sensor but watch doesn’t detect my heartrate smart sensor.
When using trail, it detects HR but not stryd as a sensor. But I can use stryd s+ app and it records all stryd data in addition to suunto wrist power…

@Ze-Stuart just bought Stryd5 and trying to configure it to get Stryd’s pace on my Vertical. Pairing with S+ app is easy, but that app doesn’t display pace.

I found your post with suggestion to pair as foot pod, but how to do that?
I tried to disconnect Stryd and uninstall S+ app. And when I connect Stryd again, it connects as power sensor. There is no menu where I could select “foot pod” pairing.

Communication with Suunto support is also confusing. They say that:

                      1. There is no way to get pace directly from pod. Watches will anyway calculate pace with their own algorithms
                      2. I could get pod pace in custom sport mode. I tried to create one but failed to find sensor’s data there
                      3. There may be third party S+ apps that show pod pace. But I don’t find any in S+ store

So, is there a way to get Stryd’s pace while training?

                        @Alexey-Kholodkov @v.sacre
I had the same issue with 5.0. I had contacted the Stryd support and they enabled an extra update which fixed pairing to Suunto.
I would think that the update is already out for everyone but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
They may be another issue that the pairing with Suunto breaks after some time and it needs to be repaired but that seems to be more on the Suunto side. However after the Stryd update I am able to properly pair Stryd 5.0 as a foot pod which takes power, cadence, pace.
