@SuuntoPartnerTeam I think I’ll start by developing a Rest Timer app which should be similar to Garmin’s rest timer in Garmin Ultra Run sport mode.
I haven’t looked enough at the documentation. It would be great if it was possible to switch to the app data screen from another data screen on demand, for example when the app handles a lap button event. I understand that most apps should never grab the “focus” like that, but in may be useful in done cases when the app needs a user attention. Perhaps there is a way to do a notification - I haven’t looked yet.
Ideally, I’d really like to implement a proper Strava Live Segments tracking app instead of the super limited S+ guide that we currently have. But that would probably require pushing the segments data from a companion phone app. This would be a far more complex project.
Overall, with S+apps being limited to HTML templates and not having custom pixel level graphics, this API feels somewhat limited to me.
By the way, how much memory and storage an S+ app can have?

@sky-runner Great to hear that you’re considering complex ideas!

This is a level of control we do not allow – only a human may switch between different applications
Apps are also constrained to only showing things when they are in focus so there are, for example, no pop-up notifications. You can notify that something needs the user’s attention via (possibly repeated) sounds with playIndication.Overall, with S+apps being limited to HTML templates and not having custom pixel level graphics, this API feels somewhat limited to me.
The canvas element is somewhat restricted but available. You can see some of what it’s capable of with apps such as HexHunter in the store, or the FowlPlay example here.

We do not have official guidelines for this. The figures alternate between models and updates.

If we overuse memory, will it crash just suunto plus app or it will crash whole activity?
-
I would like to have more functionalities for race day
- aid stations
- cut offs
It feels a bit overwhelming to make an SuuntoPlus App. So maybe someone else can try and make this?

-
@Tomas5 A heap allocation failure leads to a black screen for that application, but the activity continues. There is more information under the section “Errors” in the documentation.
-
@Horizontal_2 Can the existing app “Race nutrition” help you?
I’m also developing a “Notes” app. Don’t know if that suits your needs?
https://forum.suunto.com/topic/14766/discussion-share-your-projects/2
It doesn’t support scroll, but can hold up to 10 notes with approximately 150-180 characters per note. Depending on the watch. -
I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, a cycling power estimator.
The math is more or less worked out, and some edge cases. Will start coding in the next few days. -
@mickywickyftw
This will be cool! Will you be using the barometer data to estimate altitudes? -
@surfboomerang interesting! Thanks

I am thinking of making an app to pass time between sets at gym
. I have a vision of a minigame that you can play between sets and it would pause the game automatically when its time to lift again. I have started to think about some games that could work i am just not sure when I have time to make it. I’m think games like Snake, Flappy Bird and Crossy Road could be implemented with the watch. If you have other games in mind that could be played with just two inputs, let me know! -

@peringmar HR Broadcast would be amazing, but I feel like its probably a hardware limitation
newer watches don’t have a hardware limitation for this function

Few ideas around HeartRate:
-
Apnea trainng (co2/o2 tables) : Log HR while practice. see how strong your Diving reflex is (When stressed, it should be weak) try to figure contranctions via HR etc. (Note - when HRV will be available it will boost accuracy) compare to history for trend.
-
Box breathing relaxation : study how Box breathin influences your HR, adjust to your best setup via the HR results… (lowest HR ==> better strees, parasympathetic nervous system more active etc.) Result may be a visual guage that moves somewhere between “Fight or flight” to “rest and digest”

@suuntopartnerteam Thank you for response

How about a HRV app to record HRV readings from the watch, and have more data to sync to Suunto App for recovery analysis?
-
@Egika
say waaat? I believe I do have a couple of newer models
